El estudio empleó la metodología cuantitativa, descriptiva correlacional, diseño no experimental de corte transversal, lo que permitió la aplicación de una Escala de Autoevaluación de Habilidades Investigativas y otra de Actitud de Myers (1995). La muestra estuvo conformada por 269 estudiantes de maestría. Los resultados determinaron que existe un nivel deficiente en las habilidades investigativas de los estudiantes, quienes asumen una actitud baja e indiferente ante la investigación. Es evidente estadísticamente la relación positiva de las habilidades y las actitudes investigativas, las habilidades influyen negativamente en las actitudes cognitiva, afectiva y conductual. Se concluye que no se ha logrado el desarrollo de competencias para el dominio adecuado de los procesos investigativos

The objective of this research article was to establish the relationship between skills and attitudes towards research in students studying for a master’s degree in education at a Peruvian university. The study used a quantitative, descriptive correlational, non-experimental cross-sectional design, which allowed the application of a Research Skills Self-Assessment Scale and another of Myers’ Attitude Scale (1995). The sample consisted of 269 master’s degree students. The results determined that there is a deficient level in the students’ research skills and they assume a low and indifferent attitude towards research. The positive relationship between research skills and attitudes is statistically evident; the skills have a negative influence on cognitive, affective and behavioral attitudes.
