description En este estudio se determinó la influencia del role playing, como estrategia didáctica en la mejora de la habilidad de producción oral en los estudiantes del nivel básico de inglés, siguiendo un diseño de estudio cuasi experimental con pre-test y pos-test con un grupo de control no aleatorio, estableciéndose cinco niveles de evaluación: excelente, muy bueno, bueno, regular y malo. Los resultados de la aplicación del post test respecto a pronunciación, fluidez comprensión y dominio del discurso para el logro de la producción oral, del grupo experimental se ubicó en el nivel más alto. El promedio global respecto al objetivo general en el grupo experimental según el post test fue de 78.9 y en el pre test de 39.6. La comparación de los promedios reveló una diferencia significativa ( p < 0.01), así como la que se obtuvo comparando los promedios globales entre el grupo experimental y el de control. Se concluye que el role playing como estrategia didáctica mejora de manera significativa la producción oral del inglés.

The results of the application of the post test concerning pronunciation, fluency, comprehension and command of the discourse to achieve oral production ability, of the experimental group was located at the highest level. The global average concerning general objective in the experimental group according to the post test was 78.9 and in the pre test it was 39.6. The contrast of the averages presented a significant difference (p <0.01), as well as that obtained by comparing the global averages between the experimental group and the control group.
