La muestra fue determinada según un criterio probabilística y estadística la población quedó constituida en 50 escolares de cinco años matriculados en preescolar. Se utilizó un instrumento empleado en la recolección de datos fue el TEST de habilidades metalingüísticas (THM). Los hallazgos permitieron concluir que hay disparidades notables en las destrezas metalingüísticas; el proceso de dividir palabras en sílabas y la segmentación fonémica en los estudiantes matriculados tanto en colegios públicos como en particulares del distrito de Ate-Pachacamac. En Genero las niñas como niños no obtuvieron diferencias significativas. Por último, se comprobó una disparidad que favorece a los estudiantes matriculados en centros educativos particulares.

The research was of a basic type and descriptive level. The sample was determined using a probabilistic and statistical criterion, with a population consisting of 50 five-year-old preschool students. The instrument used for data collection was the Metalinguistic Skills Test (THM). The findings led to the conclusion that there are significant disparities in metalinguistic skills; the process of dividing words into syllables and phonemic segmentation among students enrolled in both public and private schools in the Ate-Pachacamac district. Regarding gender, there were no significant differences between girls and boys.
