Las habilidades sociales ayudan a la comprensión lectora al permitir a los estudiantes debatir ideas, escuchar activamente y compartir sus interpretaciones sobre los textos. La lectura puede ser una herramienta para mejorar las habilidades sociales, como se demuestra en estudios donde la lectura reflexiva mejoró estas competencias en estudiantes. El proceso de aprendizaje de la lectura también crea una base sólida para habilidades futuras, desde el reconocimiento de palabras y la fluidez hasta la comprensión y el resumen de textos.
