Es un estudio de tipo descriptivo y de corte transversal. La población estuvo conformada por un total de 65 pacientes del servicio de cirugía “A”, la técnica es la entrevista y el instrumento fue la escala de Hamilton y la escala de Zung. Los resultados encontrados en el estudio fueron: nivel de ansiedad grave con un 61.5%, el 32,3% presento ansiedad leve y un 6,2% no presento ansiedad; mientras que el nivel de depresión fue de 73,8% presento depresión moderada, el 20% presento depresión leve y un 6,2% presento depresión grave. Los pacientes de acuerdo a su estado de humor, tensión, miedos, insomnio, etc. presentaron en su mayor proporción un ligero nivel de ansiedad, así como también su comportamiento durante la entrevista en su mayoría presentaron niveles de ansiedad ligera y media.

It is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population was made up of a total of 65 patients from surgery service “A”, the technique is the interview and the instrument was the Hamilton scale and the Zung scale The results found in the study were: severe anxiety level with 61.5%, 32.3% presented mild anxiety and 6.2% did not present anxiety; while the level of depression was 73.8% presented moderate depression, 20% presented mild depression and 6.2% presented severe depression.
