description La presente investigación se realizó en el Manglar de Vichayal, Paita-Piura y tuvo como objetivo determinar la composición cualitativa de fitoplancton y su relación con parámetros ambientales: temperatura, salinidad y pH. Se realizaron 6 muestreos durante octubre 2015 y abril 2016, las muestras se obtuvieron mediante filtraciones de agua con una red de fitoplancton de 50 μm de abertura de malla, las cuales fueron conservadas con formol al 5%. Se determinaron 4 divisiones, 16 órdenes, 41 familias, 75 géneros y 110 especies. La división Bacillariophyta presentó mayor número de especies (61), seguido de Chlorophyta (23), Pyrrhophyta (18) y Cyanophyta (8). La correlación entre el total de especies con respecto a la temperatura fue directamente proporcional y a la salinidad fue inversa, mientras que no hubo una correlación con el pH.
