Sumario:Introduction: The  consumption of vitamin B9 during pregnancy prevents the appearance of neural tube defects, so it is recommended, in addition to the consumption of natural sources (folate),  theintake  of  supplements (folicacid)  of  thisvitamin. Objectives: To  determine  the relationship between the level of knowledge and the consumption of vitamin B9 in pregnant women of the Carmen de la LeguaHealth Center, Callao, 2017. Material and methods: Study with a quantitative   approach   of   non-experimental   design,   correlation   level   and   cross section. There was a sample of 75 pregnant women in whom two instruments were applied: a knowledge questionnaire on vitamin B9 and a 24-hour reminder. Results: 57.3% pregnant women have adequate knowledge about vitamin B9, while 62.7% have an adequatelevel of vitamin  B9  (≥400μg).  With Whitney's U Mann test, a significant relationship  was  found between the level of knowledge and the folic acid intake (p = 0.048), but not with folate or with vitamin B9 in total. Conclusion: The knowledge that pregnant women acquire about vitamin B9 is focused more on the consumption of folic acid supplements thanon natural sources of folate.
