Sumario:The purpose of this research article is to systematize new theoretical information on quality management in higher education. The search for quality in the educational services provided by educational institutions at different levels of schooling is a social concern and public policies have been formulated by the different governmental administrations of the countries in order to guarantee the training of quality professionals. Quality management in higher education is a strategy that makes it possible to provide a service with high standards of quality and satisfaction to the users of educational services.  In this review article, special interest has been placed on conceptualizing the category called quality management, the importance of quality management, characteristics, dimensions to evaluate quality management, instruments used to manage quality, aspects related to accreditation and institutional licensing in the field of higher education.
