La intención de la investigación fue demostrar lainfluencia de la técnica “skimming y scanning” comoestrategia para la comprensión de textos en inglésde los estudiantes del 1er nivel del centro de idiomasde la Dirección de Educación Continua, UniversidadTécnica de Machala, Ecuador-2017. La hipótesisfue: La Técnica “skimming y scanning” influye demanera significativa en la comprensión de textos eninglés de los estudiantes. El tipo de investigación fueaplicada, el método utilizado en la investigación fueel método científico, de diseño cuasi experimental,nivel explicativo. Se trabajó con grupo control ygrupo experimental, cada uno, conformado por 13estudiantes del 1er nivel del centro de idiomas. Lahipótesis fue comprobada utilizando la T de Student,mediante el programa SPSS versión 24. Se concluyóque, la técnica “skimming y scanning” influye de manerasignificativa en la comprensión de textos en inglés delos estudiantes del 1er nivel del centro de idiomas de laDirección de Educación Continua, Universidad técnicade Machala.
The intention of the research was to demonstratethe influence of the technique “skimming and scanning”as a strategy for the comprehension of texts in Englishof the 1st level students of the language center ofthe Directorate of Continuing Education, TechnicalUniversity of Machala, Ecuador -2017. The hypothesiswas: The technique "skimming and scanning" has asignificant influence on students' understanding ofEnglish texts. The type of research was applied, themethod used in the research was the scientific method,of quasi-experimental design, explanatory level. Weworked with a control group and an experimental group,each consisting of 13 students from the 1st level of thelanguage center. The hypothesis was tested usingStudent's T, by means of the SPSS version 24 program.It was concluded that the technique “skimming andscanning” significantly influences the comprehension ofEnglish texts of students in the 1st level of the languagecenter of the Directorate of Continuing Education,Technical University of Machala.
