The case of a two-year-old English sheep bitch that was taken to the Small Animal Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos for presenting recent lethargy is described. Blood tests revealed pancytopenia, presence of morulae compatible with Ehrlichia spp in leukocytes, dysproteinaemia and seropositivity against E. canis / E. ewingii. The presence of multiple dysplastic megakaryocytes, which exhibited alterations such as asynchrony of nuclear maturation, nuclei not lobed to hypolobulated, pseudo-articulated aspect of the nucleus and megakaryocytic emperipolesis of neutrophils were observed, without myelodysplastic alterations in the remaining cell lineages. The characteristics described represent the first haematological evidence of selective dysmegacariocytopoiesis in a dog with canine ehrlichiosis in Peru.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the superovulatory and embryonic response in alpacas with equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) according to the number of follicles recruited >3 mm in the follicular wave (FW). Twenty-six alpacas from the CIP “Chuquibambilla”, Universidad Nacional del Altiplano, Puno, Peru, were selected and distributed into two experimental groups: GE01 (n=15 alpacas) with less than three follicles >3 mm and GE02 (n=11 alpacas) with more from four follicles >3 mm in diameter to follicular recruitment post-induction of ovulation by a follicle >7 mm with 0.0042 mg of buserelin acetate (BA). Both groups were evaluated by ultrasound every other day until the beginning of the third follicular wave. Subsequently, females with follicles >7 mm were induced to ovulate with BA (day 0), ovulation was verified at 36 h and 700 IU of eCG was administered. On day...

The aim of this study was to determine the concentration of glucose, total proteins, albumin, cholesterol and triglycerides in the follicular fluid during the three stages of follicular development in alpacas. Twenty-seven animals from CIP Chuquibambilla, National University of the Altiplano, Puno, Peru were used. The alpaca ovaries were checked by an Aloka SSD 500 ultrasound and a 7.5 MHz linear transducer. The animals were subjected to a follicular wave synchronization procedure in the presence of a follicle >7 mm. On day 9 of the synchronization the animals were distributed according to the stage of the follicular wave in three groups: G1, follicle >7 mm in the growing stage; G2, follicle >7 mm in the static stage; G3, follicle >7 mm in the regression stage. The follicular fluid was aspirated from the dominant follicle with the indicated ultrasound and a 5.0 MHz transvagin...

The aim of this study was to detect Anaplasma phagocytophilum in horses from the province of Chiclayo, Peru, using haematological techniques. One hundred blood samples were collected from apparently healthy horses with a history of exposure to ticks. The haematological study consisted of blood count and the evaluation of blood smears stained with Wright and acridine orange to search for inclusion bodies and morulae of the pathogen. Results showed that 9% of horses (9/100) presented structures compatible with inclusion bodies or morulae of A. phagocytophilum, so they were considered as "positive". This group of animals presented slight alterations in the leukocytic and thrombocytic series. The findings indicate the presence of A. phagocytophilum in horses in Peru.

The clinical applications and benefits of the use of a Robotic Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation (RER) in the elbow and hand are described because a RER is a high-quality alternative capable of restoring compromised functions and neurorehabilitation at the same time in post-stroke patients. Passive rehabilitation (PR) is usually applied in the early stages of post-stroke recovery. The responsibility of assisting physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) doctors and the patient with passive exercises is a robotic system (RS); while active rehabilitation (AR) is applied regularly in late stages, it is like PR and its implications but requires the strength and support of the person to perform the exercises voluntarily. The objective of the present study is to collect, synthesize, and report relevant scientific studies related to the implementation of exoskeleton systems for elbow-hand rehabi...

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 15 million people are affected by stroke each year, causing deterioration of the upper limb, which is reflected in 70-80% of them, decreasing the performance of daily activities and quality of life, mainly affecting hand functions. Thus, the purpose of this study is to present a high-quality alternative to recover muscle tone and mobility, consisting of a hand-exoskeleton for passive rehabilitation. It covers a motion protocol for each finger and pressure sensors to give a safety pressure range during the gripping function. The bio-design method covers standards (ISO 13485 and VDI 2206) based on biomechanic and anthropometric fundamentals, where Fusion 360 was used for mechanical development and electrical-electronic circuit schematics. The prototyping process was based on 3D printing using polylactic acid (PLA); also, the actuators were...
