Cacao represents a crop of strategic importance for Peru due to its socioeconomic value, which has driven initiatives for the collection, characterization, and conservation of its genetic diversity, with a view to the future development of elite plants. As part of these efforts, a collection of 113 accessions was established, with agromorphological data were recorded over two consecutive growing seasons, comprising 33 quantitative and 18 qualitative descriptors. These data were analyzed using univariate and multivariate statistical approaches, as well as Bayesian inference models. The results revealed broad phenotypic diversity, with significant variation in quantitative fruit and seed descriptors (CV = 37.51%), which was accompanied by high heritability values (> 60%) and considerable genetic advance (> 20%). Furthermore, eight phenotypic groups were identified, with Cluster II distingu...

The Peruvian Andes are the natural habitat of several wild blackberry species that are little known and exploited due to the lack of technological and scientific development to support their agricultural potential. In this context, a study was conducted to understand the physicochemical composition, bioactive compounds, antimicrobial activity, and in vitro multiplication of four wild blackberry (Rubus sp.) species from the northern Peruvian highlands. The results indicate that fruits of R. floribundus presented the highest content of total soluble solids (9.58 ± 1.83°Brix) and titratable acidity (1.88 ± 0.07% citric acid). The fruits of R. weberbaueri recorded the highest total phenolic content (415.06 ± 8.69 mg GAE/100 g Ff). The antioxidant capacity determined by the DPPH assay varied significantly among species, with the highest value found in fruits of R. andicola (50...

This study evaluated the suitability of three floodplain environments near Iquitos for cowpea cultivar recommendation. It also estimated the adaptability and phenotypic stability of 12 cowpea lines evaluated in 2004 and compared the climatic conditions between 2004 and the period of 2020–2024. Field trials were conducted using a randomized complete block design with 12 treatments and two replications. Five traits were assessed: grain yield, number of pods per plant, days to flowering, days to physiological maturity, and days to harvest. Combined ANOVA revealed significant environmental effects for all traits. Analyses using Duncan’s means test, GGE biplot, and AMMI indicated that the three sites are contrasting. The Annicchiarico index, GGE biplot, and AMMI analyses identified line CAR 3010 as having superior adaptability and stability. Paired t-tests showed that the conditions in 20...

Phaseolus vulgaris L. is a legume of high nutraceutical value, widely cultivated and consumed. However, common bean production faces challenges such as water stress that severely affects its growth and yield. This study evaluated the morphological and physiological response of four native P. vulgaris accessions subjected to different irrigation treatments under greenhouse conditions. A completely randomized design with factorial arrangement was used, evaluating three irrigation frequencies (100%, 50%, 25%) in combination with four accessions (PER1003541, PER1003542, PER1003543, PER1003544). The results showed that with the 25% irrigation treatment, PER1003544 showed a 54.62% decrease in leaf area, while PER1003542 and PER1003543 experienced reductions of 56.56% and 59.24%, respectively. In addition, accession PER1003544 reported a smaller reduction in the number of flowers and pods, with...

The lily stands out as one of the most economically relevant flowers worldwide and enjoys great popularity as a cut flower in the florist industry. This prominent position underlines the need to implement and continuously improve sustainable protocols that ensure its efficient production, multiplication and conservation. In this context, the present study aimed to investigate the potential biostimulant effect of Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) and 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP) on two lily cultivars (Lilium LA Hybrid ‘Hyde Park’ and Lilium LA Hybrid ‘Yellow Diamond’), through their individual and combined application. The research focused on evaluating the influence of these treatments on two key aspects: (1) regeneration capacity and bulblet development from bulb scales, and (2) morpho-physiological growth parameters in regenerated plants. Analysis of the results revealed several signif...
