It is said that Peruvians lived many years with their backs turned to the sea, perhaps rightly so. We have notused and appreciated everything that our sea produces. In this paper we will give value to a product the world hasmostly relegated to the background, but we hope it will perhaps be revalued: seaweed. In this article, we willbriefly discuss the history of seaweed in Peru and its cultural use and importance prior to the Spanish conquest.Before the conquest of the coastal towns, seaweed was consumed with dry-salted fish, and used as currency toacquire agricultural products in commercial exchange with communities from the Peruvian Andes. Additionally,we will discuss the importance of seaweed in the human diet and share its nutritional value through nutritionaltables. El objetivo general de la investigación es determinar de qué manera la disponibilidad de recursos turísticos puede potencializar el desarrollo del distrito de Huacho (Huaura, Región Lima) y convertirlo en un destino turístico. Para tal fin se realizó una encuesta a 374 lugareños, además de entrevistar a dos científicos especializados en el estudio de las microalgas como la Dunaliella salina. La investigación, en cuanto a metodología, es cuantitativa y cualitativa y de alcance descriptivo de tipo aplicado. Los principales recursos turísticos del norte de Lima comprenden sitios arqueológicos importantes como la Ciudad Sagrada de Caral, los propios de Huacho entre otros, los que se pueden visitar y ampliar así la práctica sostenible de todo tipo de turismo. The COVID-19 pandemic has generated a global crisis that has impacted all human activities. One of the hardest hit is tourism which, by its very nature, faces the difficult and unavoidable challenge of creating the conditions to ensure, as far as possible, the health of tourists, generating in them the confidence necessary for a gradual return to activity. This article addresses this issue from an analysis of the current situation of tourism in Peru, to a set of proposals for its reactivation, both at a general level and in certain key subsectors.
