Combining qualitative and quantitative methodology, the study describes the main concerns of a group of adolescents and the strategies they use to cope with such concerns according to socio-demographic variables (age, sex and type of school). It is a descriptive study, with a transsectional design, of 413 adolescents from 13 to 18 years. The used instrument was the specific form of the Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS) (Frydenberg & Lewis, 1997) that included oneopen question regarding their main concern. It was found that their major concerns are centeredin their future and school performance and that the most used coping strategies were Concernand Work Hard. It was found that socio-demographic variables make important differences among the different groups.

Objective. To evaluate oral health indicators in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy in Lima-Peru. Methods. An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study of a sample of 171 patients from two specialized national referral centers for the 2012-2013 period who met the inclusion criteria. For the Greene & Vermillion oral hygiene index (OHI), decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT) and the dental malocclusion (DM) analysis, 126 children (6.0-11.9 years-old) and 45 adolescents (12.0-19.0 years-old) were evaluated. Results. The OHI was 2.55 (poor hygiene) in the 91.8%, regular OHI in the 8.2% and no one showed a good IHO, observing the same behavior in both age groups. The prevalence of caries was 100% and the DMFT was 4.55 ± 1.56; the children registered a DMFT of 4.52 ± 1.537 and the adolescents 4.64 ± 1.626. The DM was present in 74.3%; the children showed a 69,8% ...

This correlational study identifies personality dimensions, type of anxiety and sociodemographic characteristics of students from a preuniversity center. 1t was conducted with 318 participants of both sexes (43.8% female and 56.2% male) whose ages range from 15 to 19 years old. They were assessed with the following instruments: Costa and McCrae's Persona1ity lnventory NEO PI-R (1992), Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety lnventory (STAI, 1975) and tutors' reports. Results confirm the presence of a basic factor structure of five dimensions: Likewise, they also reveal significant correlations among Intellectual Quotient (IQ). personality characteristics related to Conscientiousness factor and admission to university. Self-discipline stands out among the facets that correlate with admission. Finally, results are discussed.

Objective: To determine the antioxidant activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of Origanum vulgare through DPPH, ABTS and FRAP essays. Material and Methods: The sample collected from Origanum vulgare was dried, reduced in size and placed to macerate 500 grams of dry sample in 1000 mL of 97% ethanol for one week. After time, the macerate was processed through a filter and concentrated in an oven. The formulations were carried out and the dilutions were analyzed with the antioxidant essays. Results: DPPH Method, the 25% gel showed an IC50 of 98.485 mg / mL equivalent to the dilution of 78.789% and for the Trolox® standard, it presented IC50 of 2.48 µg / mL. ABTS Method, the 25% gel formulation presented IC50 of 3.687 mg / mL equivalent to a dilution of 77.75% and for the Trolox® standard it presented IC50 of 2.99 µg / mL, a difference from the other formulations. The results evidenced ...
