Many automotive systems such as engines have manufacturing tolerances or change over time. This limits the performance of controllers tuned for the nominal case. A robust controller can not always overcome this performance gap. Against this background, in this work, we propose a self-tuning control strategy for an engine air path model obtained from data of a real engine and show its benefits setting. The self-tuning control consists of an online parameter estimation algorithm for polynomial non-linear autoregressive with exogenous input (PNARX) models and a nonlinear model predictive controller (NMPC) implemented by the continuation/generalized minimum residual (C/GMRES) algorithm. In a first step design of experiments (DOE) is utilized to identify a PNARX model offline from measurements performed on an engine test bed. A tracking NMPC is designed for this model and applied in simulatio...

Objective: To analyze the potential for innovation in dressings to treat chronic wounds in the City of Lima.  Methods: A qualitative study was carried out by means of interviews to medical experts and purchasing managers of medical supplies for the treatment of difficult-to-resolve wounds in 8 representative public health institutions with categories 1-4 within the only  54 of Lima, Peru - 2018. Results: It was determined that an average of 17 patients is treated in public health institutions on a monthly basis (60% from hospitalization and 40% from an outpatient office). It is equivalent to say that 11,016 patients present chronic wounds of difficult resolution each year, which will require specialized treatment and an average annual demand of 110,160 dressings in stock. The dressings with the highest demand correspond to the Hydrogels and Hydrocolloids, re...

The alpaca herds in Pasco region, Peru, have few known genetic links, so the breeding value of sires from different herds cannot be compared since environmental effects can mask the genetic differences among them. The aim of the study was to evaluate a sire referencing scheme for a dispersed genetic nucleus of Huacaya alpacas in Pasco. Data was collected to evaluate the organizational capacity of the breeders and characterize the population structure of six herds belonging to the nucleus in 2016. The size of the nucleus was calculated based on the need for annual replacement of sires. The genealogy was simulated for three scenarios of sire reference schemes (SRS) with 3, 6 and 9 males mating 10, 20 and 30% of dams in the nucleus per generation respectively. The contemporary groups (CG) were determined by herd-year for three generations. Finally, the degree of the genetic link was calcula...
