The term Krukenberg tumor metastases should be reserved for those containing significant amounts of signet ring cells with intracellular mucin production and diffuse sarcomatoid ovarian stromal reaction. This limitation is important because tumors with these microscopic characteristics also have macroscopic pathologic features and clear clinics. Almost all have metastasized from the stomach, although some come from the breast, bowel or other organs that contain glands mucosas1,2. The aim of this study is to provide data to the national casuistry presenting therapeutic clinical, diagnostic, and prognosis of this tumor.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of gynecological cancer during perimenopause, and then establish which types of cancer can benefit with cancer screening. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Age andfrequency oftervix, breast, ovary, endometrium and vulvar cancer were determined inpatients between 45 and 50 years at Guillermo Almenara Hospital. RESULTS: Mammarian and ovarian cancer were diagnosed predominantly during the Perimenopause and cervical cancer was diagnosed 5 years later. In thepostreproductive period the agefrequency of cervical, mammary and ojorumv cancer were 64,5%, 63,6%; and 64,3%, respectively. Endometrium cancer was diagnosed one decade later. All patients with vulvar cancer (100%) were posmenopausal. CONCLUSION: Gynecological cancer must be diagnosed during the perimenopause when consultation about climacteric symptoms increase.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the clinical, diagnostic and surgicopatbological aspects of ovarian tumors of low malignant potencial or borderline malignancy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 12 cases of ovarian tumors of LMP are reviewed at Guillermo Almenara Hospital (1990-1997). These tumors constitute 11 896 of all ovarian cancer. The average age of the patients was 42,5 years, one decade earlier than the mean age at diagnosis for invasive ovarian cancer. Pelvic tumor and pain were predominant characteristics. Average greatest diameter was 21 cm; 83,3% (p < 0,001) of these tumors bad complex ecoestructure (thick or thin wall, septae, and some internal ecos). CA-125 tumor marker was determined in 5 cases, and all bad <35 U/mL levels. All tumors were epithelials, and the majority mucinous 83,3%. FIGO's stages were stage I, 8,3% stage II, and 16,6% stage III (p>0,05). Management was according in to ovari...

We report the case of a 37-years-old woman, who was treated for a metastatic carcinoma located at the ovary from extragenital source: Krukenberg´s tumor, at the Surgery Department N.º 5, Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen - IPSS. The tumor showed signet ring cells in cellular stroma, derivated from ovarian stroma. The primary neoplasm was gastric cancer and has been submitted to total gastrectomy plus omentectomy (R-II Resection) with esophagus-jejuno lateral end anastomosis in Y of Roux with autosuture. After 18 months, she underwents a second intervention: total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpinx oophorectomy, showing ascitis and bilateral enlarged solid ovarian masses. Her survival was 24 months after the first intervention.

Retrospective study of 950 biopsies of breast at Guillermo Almenara National during 1990-1995 There were, 950 benign lesions of breast (74,21%) Fibroadenomas ocurr in the first half of reproductive age whereas fibrocys in the perimenopausal period. Sensivity of breast ultrasound (87,5%) and of BAAF (85,8%) indicate that methods are adequate for the diagnosis of breast benign disorders. Use of the Page modified classification for the histopathologic registry is recommended.

OBJECTIVE: To present a case of uterine prolapse and pregnancy attended at "Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen", Hospital and determine risk factors for presentation. DESIGN: Descriptive clinical case study. RESULTS: We identify the risk factors for genital prolapse in our population. CONCLUSIONS: Uterine prolapse during pregnancy is not frequent. Adequate knowledge of its causes, complications and postpartum management will lead us to adequate preventive measures.

OBJETIVE: To determine maternal and perinatal characteristics, mode of delivery and complications of pregnant women with vaginal birth after a previous cesarean. LUGAR: Hospital Uldaric Rocca, Essalud, in 2000-2004. Mterial AND METHODS: Retrospective and descriptive study of 298 pregnant women at term with a history of a previous cesarean admitted to study for the test of labor and vaginal delivery. RESULTAOOS: The success rate of vaginal delivery was 54.7% (163 patients) with previous cesarean. 63.2% were between 26 and 35 years old. The intergenesic period from the previous cesarean and vaginal birth less than two years was 86% (14 patients). The eutócivo birth was given in 90.8% (148 patients) and vacuum was used in 9.2% (15 patients). It was stimulated with oxytocin labor in 14.7% (24 patients). The average weight of newborns (RN) was 3406g and 4.9% (8 RN) they were macrosomic. 99....
