In this paper we present the vowel lengthening in the framework of the methodological state of the grammatical argumentation according to Botha (1970). From twenty isoglosses that separate the northern Aymara (Umasuyu) from the southern Aymara (Orcosuyo), lengthening is one of the more representative isoglosse. By its nature, lengthening is not a phoneme but the product of five factors to take into account: 1) elition of continuous consonants between equal and different vowels, 2) lengthening in a group of internal consonants, 3) lengthening in suffixes with those consonants, 4) lengthening in compound words and 5) reanalysis as false lengthening.

In this article we present the place names of the Tambopata river basin in the Puno region. It constitutes only part of the broader study that we have carried out on the lexicon of place names, plants, animals, diseases and objects collected in the Tambopata river basin, which includes three districts in the province of Sandia: Yanahuaya, San Juan del oro and Putina in the province of Sandia. We analize linguistically – phonologically, lexically and semantically – the variation of the names related to the local language. In the written language, we can lead ourselves by certain norms because of the typology of the language, as the phonological and morphophonemic processes, while in oral language, it is not necessary because it is implicit. When the writers get in the aimara coding, they have to respect the rules called sandhi. That is why we bring it up some aspects to be taken into account for writing prectices.

Vitality in the Aimara language can be assessed in several ways and you can be seen it as an endangered language. In this appraisal there are some factors arising from a ground of positive cultural diversity may influence the process of asserting a groups’s own identity or, to understand respect the identity of the others.In this last point the political (ie, attaining official status), religious, scholarly (chair of Aimara), literary (written sources), territorial, identity and ethnic resistance aspects can be seen as factors of vitality. But identity and self-esteem can also be reflected in the number of speakers, by social prestige, availability of media, and its use historical and cultural codification, and ways of expressing each other the words and by oneself.

The Aymara language has already entered a coding stage, and it has a long orthographic tradition, and has an official alphabet. But Aymara needs norms for writing (orthography) that take into account morphonology and syntax. The norms of writing must be based upon of the typology of Aymara Language.

Since 1583, when Spanish priests published a trilingual Doctrina Christiana, the Aymara language has had a long written tradition: dictionaries, vocabularies, dictionaries or grammars, if not all, have been bilingual (Spanish-Quechua, Spanish-Aimara, Portuguese-Guarani). The structure of a bilingual dictionary must conform to the standards of modern lexicography. Failure to do so may result in a defective product, since the preparation of a dictionary involves a careful treatment of grammatical and lexical aspects.

The paper presents the Aymara suffixes used by Bertonio and compares them with the current suffixes. The suffixes have been classified into derivational, inflectional and independent suffixes, both in nouns and verbs. The author describes processes of grammaticalization as well as lexicalization. The study aims at the revitalization of the language.

Este trabajo es una muestra lexicográfica de alrededor de 450 nombres en aimara de lugares, plantas, animales, enfermedades y objetos recogidos en la cuenca del río Tambopata, la que comprende en su recorrido tres distritos: Yanahuaya, San Juan del Oro y Putina Punco. Desde los puntos de vista fonológico, léxico y semántico, se analiza la variación lingüística de los nombres que están relacionados con la lengua que hablan en la zona. Con esta investigación se comprueba la hipótesis planteada: que el abandono de la lengua y la cultura es lento.
