The time required to execute and defend undergraduate theses and the relationship between the number of theses supported with the scientific articles derived from theses that were published in indexed journals were analyzed. The study was carried out with theses work carried out at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the Universidad Nacional Micaela Bastidas de Apurímac in the period 2012-2018. The information available in the faculty and in the institutional repository of the university was collected. The publications indicated by the thesis advisers with the CTI-Vitae registry of the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (CONCYTEC) and the publications available in international scientific databases were verified. The study was conducted in the district of Tamburco (Abancay, Apurimac, Peru) with the aim of comparing interpretation criteria of California Mastitis Test (CMT) in the diagnosis of subclinical mastitis in cattle. Two hundred and nine cows from a population of 459 hand-milked cows belonging to 95 breeders were used. A total of 828 functional mammary quarters were evaluated and the main criteria for CMT interpretation were estimated. The prevalence of subclinical mastitis in cows was 72.3 and 65.6%, and in total mammary quarters was 48.7 and 42.3% with and without considering traces as positives respectively, and without statistical difference. The estimated prevalence in individual mammary quarters varied between 48.3 to 49.3% and depending of the mammary quarter between 40.0 to 45.5% with and without considering traces as positives respectively (p<0.05). The aim of this study was to determine the effect of adding antioxidant Tempol in the individual and progressive motility of alpaca sperm at cooling and after thawing. Previously, the vas deferens was deviated in three males with suitable semen parameters. Sperm were collected three times per week and pooled to avoid the individual effect. The sample was distributed in four aliquots and placed in refrigeration to reach 5 °C in 2 h. The antioxidant was added in four concentrations: 0, 0.5, 1.0 y 1.5 mM when the aliquots reached 10 °C. The sperm were filled in 0.25 ml straws, placed over liquid nitrogen vapor by 6 min and then submerged. Individual motility at cooling was 55.1, 63.7, 52.8 and 45.0 (p<0.05) and after thawing 35.7, 42.3, 29.0 and 18.1% (p<0.05) for 0, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mM Tempol, respectively. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el efecto de la adición del antioxidante Tempol en la motilidad individual y progresiva a la refrigeración y descongelación de espermatozoides de alpaca. Se desvió el conducto deferente de tres alpacas con adecuados parámetros seminales y los espermatozoides fueron colectados tres veces por semana y mezclados para anular el efecto individual. La muestra colectiva se dividió en cuatro alícuotas y fueron colocadas en refrigeración hasta alcanzar 5 ºC en 2 h. El antioxidante fue añadido en concentraciones de 0, 0.5, 1.0 y 1.5 mM cuando las alícuotas alcanzaron los 10 ºC. The study aimed to estimate five technological characteristics of the white fibre of Huacaya alpaca of a rural community of the Andean region of Apurimac, Peru. Fibre samples (n=405) were taken from the middle of the rib area prior to shearing. The variables studied were: mean diameter of fibre (MDF), coefficient of variation of fibre diameter (CVDF), comfort index (IC), curvature index (ICur) and spinning fineness (FiHi), by sex and age group according to teeth (DL=Deciduous teeth; 2D=2 permanent teeth; 4D=4 teeth; BLL=all teeth). The MDF for males and females was 19.6 and 20.1 µm respectively (p<0.05), where values increased with age (p<0.05). No statistical difference was found by sex or age for CVDF. The study aimed to determine the chemical composition and ruminal degradability of dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) of Erythrina falcata at 105, 120 and 135 days of regrowth. Leaves and petiole samples were dried and 8 g of dry grounded samples were placed in nylon bags in the rumen of three male goats during 0, 24, 48 and 72 hours. The DM and CP values were 24.4 and 21.4% at 105, 24.8 and 23.2% at 120 and, 27.2 and 24.4% at 105 days respectively. The ruminal degradability of potentially degradable insoluble fraction of DM and CP was 29.6 and 42.9% at 105, 24.3 and 31.4% at 120 and, 14.9 and 24.1% at 135 days, respectively, and the effective degradability of DM and CP was 41.3 and 41.2% at 105, 36.5 and 30.3% at 120 and, 32.3 and 30.5% at 135 days respectively. The study showed a higher protein advantage in goats at 105 days of growth of E. falcata foliage.

El estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la composición química y la degradabilidad ruminal de la materia seca (MS) y proteína cruda (PC) del pisonay (Erythrina falcata) a los 105, 120 y 135 días de rebrote. Se tomaron muestras de hojas y peciolo, se secaron y se colocaron 8 g de muestra molida por bolsa de nylon en el rumen de tres chivatos machos adultos por 0, 24, 48 y 72 horas. Los valores de MS y PC fueron 24.4 y 21.4% a los 105, 24.8 y 23.2% a los 120 y, 27.2 y 24.4% a los 135 días, respectivamente. The creole cattle was originated after the introduction of cattle into America 5 centuries ago. Currently, the production traits of Peruvian creole cattle is scarcely known. An important characteristic of the creole cattle is its adaptability to different extreme environments. However, to date, molecular studies in Peruvian creole cattle are still scarce. Currently, due to the advances in molecular genetics, a new generation of molecular markers has been developed for the genetic characterization of livestock. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) have become a very popular tool for the genetic study of livestock populations. Genome-wide SNP chips were developed for multi-breed genetic studies in cattle.
