This article resumes the Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for the management of moderate to severe depressive episodes without psychotic symptoms in the Peruvian Social Health Insurance (EsSalud). The CGP’s aim is to provide evidence based recommendations for the clinical evaluation and treatment of these patients. In order to develop this guideline, a multidisciplinary Guideline Development Group (GDG)—including medical specialists and methodologists—was established. The GDG formulated key clinical questions to guide the evidence review. Multiple systematic literature searches were conducted for each clinical question during 2023. The GRADE methodology (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) was used to assess the certainty of the evidence and support the formulation of recommendations. En este documento se plasma la evaluación de la eficacia y seguridad del uso del producto farmacéutico palmitato de paliperidona para el tratamiento de pacientes adultos con esquizofrenia, pobre adherencia a antipsicóticos orales y efectos extrapiramidales intolerables al uso de antipsicótico típicos de depósito; cuyos resultados sustentaron la no aprobación del uso de esta tecnología sanitaria en EsSalud.
