This article resumes the Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) for the management of moderate to severe depressive episodes without psychotic symptoms in the Peruvian Social Health Insurance (EsSalud). The CGP’s aim is to provide evidence based recommendations for the clinical evaluation and treatment of these patients. In order to develop this guideline, a multidisciplinary Guideline Development Group (GDG)—including medical specialists and methodologists—was established. The GDG formulated key clinical questions to guide the evidence review. Multiple systematic literature searches were conducted for each clinical question during 2023.
