The present work was carried out with the aim to document the composition of the flowering plants of the Regional Sanctuary of Piura «Manglares San Pedro», of Vice-Sechura. Its importance resides in that it is the most southern mangrove forest in the Pacific of South America. The study was carried out from April of the 2000 until February of the 2004. For the realization of the present work periodic visits every two months to the place were undertaken, the plants were collected under the standard procedures. The samples were determined in the place and some were taken to the laboratory of Botany of the National University of Piura and the laboratory of Phanerogamic Botany of the National University of Trujillo for their definitive determination, then the samples were deposited in the Herbarium in formation of the National University of Piura. It is indisputable, the role that flora and particularly medicinal plants play in improving the quality of life of the world population. In Peru, knowledge about plants and their applications has been transmitted throughout history and today constitutes a legacy inherited by the Andean-Amazon communities, which are possessors of an exceptional, unique and promising flora; and unfortu- nately these traditions are gradually being lost, especially due to demographic expansion. Based on what has been described, this research aims to determine the importance of the promising medicinal flora of Jesus, Cajamarca, Peru. Se evaluó la diversidad la diversidad, distribución altitudinal, distribución vertical y estado fenológico de las especies de Orchidaceae presentes entre los 1100 y 2200 m en el lado occidental de la quebrada Colorada, distrito de El Carmen de la Frontera, provincia de Huancabamba, departamento de Piura, norte de Perú. Se realizaron 9 parcelas de estudio de 50x50 m2, repartidas en tres estratos, los mismos que fueron visitados en tres ocasiones entre 2016 y 2017, sumando un total de 6.75 hectáreas de terreno cubierto (0.24% de la quebrada Colorada). En cada parcela evaluada, se realizó búsqueda intensiva de ejemplares en sustrato rocoso, terrestre y epífito. Se registraron 30 especies y 18 taxa identificados a nivel de género, distribuidos en 26 géneros, de los cuales Epidendrum (con 8 taxa) y Pleurothallis (con 5 taxa) fueron los más diversos. El hombre a través de su historia, ha empleado la flora, en el tratamiento de múltiples enfermedades; muchas constituidas en pandemias y causantes de millones de muertes. Esta investigación determinó las “plantas frías” y “plantas calientes” como recursos para la prevención y/o tratamiento del COVID- 19, al demostrar que estarían relacionadas a los pHs alcalinos y ácidos, para ayudar a resolver esta pandemia. Se ejecutaron exploraciones botánicas a distintas localidades del norte del Perú, aplicándose 96 entrevistas semiestructuradas según el método “bola de nieve”, a fin de recabar información de: “nombres vulgares”, “partes empleadas del vegetal”, “tipos de preparado”, “formas de administración”, “enfermedad tratada” y el tipo de “planta fría” o “planta caliente” utilizada.
