Introduction: Obesity is a public health problem, which also affects the worksector. Objective: Determine the factors associated with overweight and obesity inPiura workers. Methods: A cross-sectional study, using secondary database. Weused the occupational exam records of workers of companies in Sechura – Piura. The main variable was the BMI classification (normal/overweight/obese).Descriptive results and the association between the type of BMI and othervariables were presented. Results: Of the 1203 workers who met the selectioncriteria, 93.2% (1121) were male, and had a median age of 31 (range: 18-63).Significant difference between BMI with respect to waist circumference, hipdiameter, hemoglobin, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL and glucose was found. In addition to gender, age and type of test (entrance/periodic/retirement). The studyshowed no significant differences from the plac...

Introduction: The human body adapts to its place of residence, but this topic has not been studied in the Peruvian working population. Objective: Determine physiological and anthropometric variations in workers due to their residence in three geographic altitudes in Peru. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted of physiological data (6 laboratory parameters) and anthropometric data (weight and height) of 7 500 workers from three different altitudes: Lima (sea level), Arequipa (2 500 m above sea level) and Cerro de Pasco (4 300 m above sea level). The measures were standard and taken by occupational clinics with quality certifications. Coefficients and p values for differences between the altitudes were obtained and adjusted according to the sex and age of participants. Results: All the physio-anthropometric parameters varied with the altitude of the place of residence ...

Objective: To determine the temporal variation in spirometric values according to the geographical altitude of labor location on a group of mining workers. Material and methods: A longitudinal study using spirometry values of workers taken several years at two locations, one at sea level and another at high altitude in the Peruvian highlands. The values of forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and Tiffeneau index (FEV1/FVC) were used. It were analyzed with models that adjust for time (PA-GEE), with Gaussian family, identity link function and robust models, the time variable was the year of spirometry take. P value and coefficients were used in each case. Results: From 1349 records, 86% (1162) were male, the median 22-66 años).
