The present study had the objective of analyzing the Peruvian scientific production published after the university reform initiated in 2014 with the purpose of evidencing the impact of this one on the other. A systematic search for data related to research indicators of the competitiveness rankings of the World Economic Forum, the Global Innovation Index, the Scimago Journal Rank, the Ricyt, the Concytec, the Peruvian Council of Competitiveness, among other organizations that analyze global or regional performance was carried out. The results indicate that, during the last decade, Peru has shown some improvements in scientific research: it has quintupled investment in science and technology, increased scientific production and thus obtained better positions at the regional and global level; it has also shown sustained growth in publications. However, Peru's performance is still limited, ...

Introduction: Empathy and motivations to study Medicine are important for the performance of the future doctor and for the quality of service provided. Objective: To establish the relationship between empathy and the social/altruistic and economic/prestige domains of the motivations to study medicine in university students of three Peruvian cities; also, to compare the correlations of the variables according to the sex of the students. Methods: Cross-sectional correlational design. The sample was made up of 249 students of both sexes, 166 women and 83 men, between the ages of 17 and 27, who were studying from the first to the seventh year of Medicine at a private university based in three Peruvian cities (Lima and Province). The instruments used were the Cognitive and Affective Empathy Test and the Motivations Scale to study Medicine. Results: The association between Altruistic Social ...

The cattle heron is native of the tropical and subtropical areas of Africa and Asia, from where it arrived on the northeast coast of SouthAmerica in 1877 and extended its distribution range to Central America and North America. It has undergone dynamic demographictransformations that have led to the colonization of vast areas, through a process of world expansion that has turned it into a cosmopolitanbird. Various factors such as its large size, long-distance flight capacity, its omnivore condition, its opportunistic nature, its remarkableability to adapt to new environments; as well as deforestation and the establishment of grasslands for cattle on a large scale, havecontributed to the expansion of its distribution range. In the present work a historical review of the colonization of the cattle heron iscarried out since its arrival to America. Here we would see how geographic and enviro...

Objective: Explain some of the causes that have influenced the little success achieved by social isolation, which has not allowed to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods. To find out some of the causes, a survey was applied virtually, between June 12 and 22, 2020, to 568 people segmented into three age groups: A from 17 to 35 years old, B from 36 to 54 years old and C from 55 to 71 years. Although the survey consisted of a 29-question questionnaire, for the present work only five questions related to social isolation have been taken into consideration. Results. A slightly greater interest in being informed is evidenced in the C age range, the most used medium for information is television (86%) in the C range and social networks (52%) for the A range, these also being the ones that more are reported through official channels (58%). For most age groups (39%) it creates c...

The experience of waterbird censuses in Peru started at the beginning of Century XXth with this kind of censuses made by the Peruvian Guano Company and then by IMARPE. Between 1992 and 2016, annual censuses have been conducted in 61 wetlands on 12 Peruvian departments, a total of 151 residents and migratories birds were registered. Censuses have contributed greatly to improve species of waterbirds knowledge and synergies among institutions and ornithologist that through volunteerism collect important data to the conservation of species and wetland management with particular reference to the high Andean slopes. The taxonomic composition of the species, the importance of the inventories, the migration routes of birds from the Nearctic, Austral and high Andean regions, and the protected areas in the conservation of wetlands and biodiversity are analyzed. The aim of this paper is to make a h...

Unesco (2018) indicates that one in three students are victims of bullying at school age, which is why the present research aimed to establish the link between pro-social ability and behaviors against bullying in Peruvian adolescents between 12 and 14 years old. The research was descriptive correlational type; the study sample consisted of 109 students calculated with the G * Power program version 3.1.9.4; the sampling used was non-probabilistic for convenience. The instruments used were piloted with a sample of 100 subjects, the scale of pro-social skills in adolescents (EHP-A) obtained a O = 0.943; and the Multimodal School Interaction Questionnaire (CMIE-IV) obtained O = 0.850. The results showed significant and inverse correlations with low effect sizes between pro-social skills and behaviors in the face of bullying, only direct and significant correlations were found between perspec...

A health technology (drug, vaccine, medical device, procedure) is submitted to a systematic evaluation procedure, called Health Technology Assessment (HTA). The HTA process involves analyzing the properties, benefits, risks and costs of a technology applied to health care, and issuing evidence-based information, linking research and its findings with decision-making in the field of health. Based on the recommendations obtained as a result of the HTA, decision-makers in the health sector choose to admit or reject the incorporation of new health technologies. In Peru, as in the rest of the world, the health technology assessment process has been implemented for approximately ten years, and there are institutions with experience in preparing reports with the results of the HTA. This article provides a general overview of HTA in the world, with special emphasis on their evolution and develop...

This article examines the use of the SAS tool in the learning of statistics. the type of research was applied with a quasi-experimental design and quantitative approach, the sample was determined by a non-probabilistic method comprising 28 students for both groups; for the collection of information, a pre-test and a post-test were applied, validated with expert judgment and V. Aiken, its reliability with the Spearman Brown coefficient. After the experiment, the results showed higher averages in favor of the experimental group to whom the SAS software was applied in its statistical learning dimensions at a descriptive and inferential level. In order to know the distribution of the data, the Shapiro Wilk numerical method was used, the result of the test gave the certainty to choose the TStudent test for two independent samples at 95% with a level of confidence and 0.05 significance. It is ...
