Asimismo, se buscó identificar diferencias en las puntuaciones de autoestima y soledad de los adolescentes, según la variable sexo. Se utilizó un diseño de investigación no experimental de tipo transversal, con alcance correlacional. Los instrumentos empleados fueron la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg y la Escala de Soledad de De Jong-Gierveld. Los resultados indicaron que la relación entre autoestima y soledad es inversa y moderada (rs = −0.43), lo mismo para el grupo de varones (rs = −0.45). En el grupo de mujeres la relación es inversa y pequeña (rs = −0.29) similar al grupo etario de 12 a 14 años (rs = −0.29). Mientras que en el grupo etario de 15 a 17 años la relación es inversa y grande (rs = −0.52). Además, la relación entre autoestima y la dimensión de soledad social fue inversa y moderada (rs = −0.35), lo mismo ocurrió con la dimensión de soledad emocional (rs = −0.33). Por último, se encontraron diferencias tanto en las puntuaciones de autoestima como en las de soledad, según el sexo del adolescente. |

Likewise, the relationship between self-esteem and the two dimensions of loneliness was determined. It was also sought to identify differences in the self-esteem and loneliness scores of the adolescents, according to the sex variable. A non-experimental, cross-sectional research design with correlational scope was used. The instruments used were the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the De Jong-Gierveld Loneliness Scale. The results indicated that the relationship between self-esteem and loneliness is inverse and medium (rs = −0.43), the same for the male group (rs = −0.45). In the group of women, the relationship is inverse and small (rs = −0.29) similar to the 12-14 years age group (rs = −0.29). While in the 15-17 years age group the relationship is inverse and large (rs = −0.52). In addition, the relationship between self-esteem and the social loneliness dimension was inverse and medium (rs = −0.35), the same occurred with the emotional loneliness dimension (rs = −0.33).
