The research is of the Causal Correlational type, with a post-test design with a non-random control group, the universe or population being 100 students in the third grade of primary school, and the sample is the 32 students that make up the third grade C classroom. As an instrument, the questionnaire was used, which groups a series of questions oriented to a particular topic of analysis of five types of texts (descriptive, informative, poetic, argumentative and instructive), in their relationship with three levels of reading comprehension (literal, inferential and criterion). The descriptive analysis technique was used based on the recognition and interpretation of the results obtained on the basis of statistical results to evaluate the relationship between reading competence and the ability to classify texts, from the three levels of pedagogical evaluation ( started, in process and achieved). In the results, it was possible to verify the significant relationship between the application of reading comprehension strategies and the development of the ability to classify texts in the students of the third grade of primary school.El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo principal explicar la relación positiva que tiene el desarrollo de la competencia lectora en la capacidad de clasificación de textos en estudiantes del tercer grado de educación primaria de la Institución Educativa Nº5176 “María Reiche Grosse”. La investigación es de tipo Correlacional Causal, con un diseño con posprueba con grupo de control no aleatorio, siendo el universo o población 100 alumnos del tercer grado de primaria, y la muestra los 32 estudiantes que conforman el aula del tercer grado C. Como instrumento se utilizó el cuestionario que agrupa una serie de preguntas orientadas a un tema particular de análisis de cinco tipos de textos (descriptivo, informativo, poético, argumentativo e instructivo), en su relación con tres niveles de comprensión lectora (literal, inferencial y criterial). Como técnica de análisis se utilizó la descriptiva a partir del reconocimiento e interpretación de los resultados obtenidos sobre la base de resultados estadísticos para evaluar la relación entre la competencia lectora y la capacidad de clasificación de textos, a partir de los tres niveles de evaluación pedagógica (en inicio, en proceso y logrado).
