The research’s objective was to find out if the TALENTVEFT program has any effect on the development of multiple intelligences in children. The study, of explanatory level, used the experimental method and a quasi-experimental design of longitudinal cut. The sample consisted of 182 students, divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group participated in 4 one-hour sessions for 4 weeks (one session per week). The control group did not participate in any workshops. Both groups were evaluated before and after (pretest and postest) the intervention with the Armstrong professor’s inventory of multiple intelligences, adapted by Prieto and Ballester (Alvarez, 2014). The results showed statistically significant differences between the two measurement moments at the level of interpersonal intelligence (t = 7,752 / p = ,000) and intrapersonal inte...

One of research areas of Systems Engineering is software development; for which, high level of programming using different languages is required. Therefore, students have basic, intermediate, and advanced programming courses, within their curriculum; currently these courses have a high rate of disapproval. In this article, we develop a case study on the programming course of systems engineering degree from the University of Sciences and Humanities, Peru. Following the stages of participatory action research methodology. First, a diagnosis was made, in which a rate of disapproval of 58% was identified. Second, a technique of participatory teaching and learning, using previous materials and exams, was applied. Third, results were measured, in which the rate of disapproval was reduced to 8%. Additionally, results revealed that 82% of participants opined that improved their learning, 75% tha...

The teaching of human parasitology is essential for students of health sciences, especially medicine, because it is a major global public health problem―occurring with high frequency in low-income countries―and because of its presence in countries considered developed. In this sense, it is estimated that worldwide there are 2,800 million individuals infected with soil-transmitted helminths, 20 to 30% people infected with Toxoplasma gondii, 300 to 500 million new cases of malaria per year, and nearly 15 million Latin Americans with Chagas disease, an infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi. This narrative review article analyzes information available in digital repositories on aspects of the traditional educational program of human or medical parasitology using descriptors or keywords closely related to the topic. The reviewed articles were mainly those published in peer-reviewed, index...

Mathematicians and computational designers from a School of Architecture, explore visual programming in the environment of a design software with exercises of a basic mathematics course to overcome the limitations of hand drawing and computerized representation of geometry. We link the learning of geometry, which was associated with abstract aspects of mathematics, with the possibilities of solving design problems in the same environment that students use to design with technologies. Visual programming allowed to create and reuse formulas that modeled variations of different exercises, preparing the model for visualization and digital fabrication with 3D printing and laser cutting. This research promotes a learning experience using algorithms and personalized computer graphics throughout design learning and to value the use of mathematics to explore geometric possibilities in design prob...

In the current literature, there is limited evidence of the effects of teaching programming languages using two different paradigms concurrently. In this paper, we present our experience in using a multiparadigm and multiprogramming approach for an Introduction to Programming course. The multiparadigm element consisted of teaching the imperative and functional paradigms, while the multiprogramming element involved the Scheme and Python programming languages. For the multiparadigm part, the lectures were oriented to compare the similarities and differences between the functional and imperative approaches. For the multiprogramming part, we chose syntactically simple software tools that have a robust set of prebuilt functions and available libraries. After our experiments, we found that the students were strongly biased towards memorizing the syntax of these languages, jeopardizing their ab...

At the beginning of 2020, in Peru, the pandemic had a significant impact that connected aspects such as language, health, education, and information. The objective of this article is to analyze and describe the use of Aymara language borrowings in the Jiwasanaka (‘We’) program during the pandemic. It is very important to detail the role played by the Jiwasanaka (‘We’) program in providing viewers with information about the coronavirus in their native language. Methodologically, the study is qualitative and descriptive. The corpus consists of five videos or five programs that were published on YouTube in March, April, May, and June 2020. The results show that health-related loanwords during the health crisis have been integrated into the language of Aymara speakers due to communicative necessity and the lack of equivalent terms, adapting or being adapted to Aymara grammar.
