El refrán, “no hay quinto malo”, en una tarde de toros, hace referencia al quinto astado, cuya lidia debería prometer una gran faena. Ello, en parte, obedece a que, antiguamente, en las fiestas taurinas españolas eran los propietarios de los toros quienes determinaban el orden de la lidia, dejándose a los mejores ejemplares para el final. Si bien es cierto que, en la actualidad, el orden de la lidia es aleatorio, este refrán sigue vigente en tanto y en cuanto se haga referencia, mediante su uso anchuroso, a que lo mejor de algo puede ocurrir después y no antes.

Los últimos diez años no he tenido tiempo para dedicar un par de horas a la semana, en un horario fijo, a sentarme y continuar con el ritual consagrado de una serie televisiva, tal como lo hacía con los Expedientes Secretos X que pasaban por canal 2, los domingos a las 10 de la noche, justo antes de Millenium, cuando la televisión nacional aun podía importar programas entretenidos.

Voluntary desistance represents a complex issue in criminal dogmatics. In this context, the author argues that impunity for voluntary desistance, regulated in legal systems such as German, Spanish and Peruvian, lacks a solid foundation and instead generates dysfunctional consequences in any legal-criminal system that seeks to protect individual autonomy. Consequently, in a legal system where individual autonomy is a fundamental principle, the ability of an individual to avoid criminal liability simply by voluntarily desisting from a criminal act already initiated, without consideration of the risk created, is contrary to the logic of a criminal system that seeks to safeguard social security and order. The amniotic band syndrome (ABS) is characterized by accumulation of fibrous tissue bands or strings that adhere to the fetus and may produce compression in different sites. Most cases present multiple congenital anomalies incompatible with life. A small group of fetuses have isolated constrictions of the limb that may cause severe limb dysfunction or limb amputation if not treated during pregnancy. This rare condition occurs in approximately 1:1 200 to 1:15 000 live births. The exact cause of ABS remains uncertain; however, theories of intrinsic, extrinsic and iatrogenic reasons have been proposed. It is now known that turbulence and mixing in the lower stratosphere occurs in intermittent layers of thickness between about 30 and 300 meters. Layered structures also exist in the ocean (Woods, 1969) and in the atmospheres of the other planets (Gierasch and Conrath, 1987). It appears that dissipative processes in stratified geophysical fluids frequently take place in thin layers. It is therefore of great importance to observe and document the nature of these dynamical regions. The Arecibo facility is uniquely capable of performing these high resolution measurements. With more understanding on determinants of successful outcomes in patients, we also find that mesh contribution is not so important as initially thought as it may increase risks and complications. After reviewing records, the FDA warned first in 2008 and then in 2011 and 2013 that complications with use of mesh were not infrequent. Current tendency is to create multinstitutional registries to obtain both anatomical subjective information and results in quality of life, as well as to register complications and their treatments. Absorbable mesh is associated with fewer perception of the prolapse symptoms and fewer operations due to recurrence. Meshes have limited role in primary surgery for pelvic prolapse. It is possible that benefits exceed risks in a group of women, but there is no clear evidence which is that group.

Amniotic band syndrome is a congenital fetal abnormality characterized by fibrous bands and multiple disruptive anomalies that vary in presentation and complexity, some of which are incompatible with life. We present 18 cases of this syndrome and the associated pathology. Five newborns and 13 fetuses were examined following the standard pathological examination protocol. Nine were males and nine, females, with body weight varying from less than 100 g to 3 680 g. Cases of amniotic bands affected fingers (13 cases), limbs (5 cases), lips (6 cases), face (6 cases), head (6 cases), abdominal wall (2 cases) and umbilical cord (8 cases). Eight cases included associated malformations in heart, lungs, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, and umbilical cord (single artery, velamentous insertion, short umbilical cord, nuchal cord). The·objective of OUT work is to propase end analyze a decoding procedure useful to achieve unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution in CW S-band radar measurements at the AO. We find that using hard limiting transformations of the detected echoes (to achieve computational speed) does not distort significantly the process of spectral estimation. Moreover our procedure is efficient in the sense that statistical accuracy of individual estimates is kept with small increase in (coherent) integration time specially if the time series is oversampled. These characteristics make our estimation method very convenient.

CCD imaging was performed of the NGC 1640 field using the OAUNI 51cm telescope at Huancayo Observatory, Peru, on 2023-08-19.310 (UT). No source is detected at the position of AT 2023pow (TNSTR-2023-1982) with limiting magnitude R ~ 18.5. This is consistent with the AT 2023pow report by T. Noguchi few hours after the detection alert. The OAUNI project is supported by UNI, TWAS, IGP and ProCiencia-Concytec (Convenio133-2020 Fondecyt).
