This research attempts to explain economic growth in Ecuador from oil revenues, since in the last ten years the oil sector and economic growth have attracted attention in the literature; its importance refers to the theory of Solow growth. The main variables analyzed were oil revenues, as a key variable in the production function, it was estimated per capita terms per worker; for this, statistical series Central Bank of Ecuador and ordinary least squares were used; Also, the gross fixed capital formation, economically active population and oil revenues, the latter as a foreign additional variable production function to explain economic growth. As a main result a positive relationship GDP per worker (y) with the gross fixed capital formation per worker (k) and oil income per worker (yp) is obtained, when the variables investment and income increase, GDP per worker also increases.

The present study aimed to study the morphological variability of indigenous chicken in the south of Ecuador. A total of 200 adult individuals (31 males and 169 females) were characterized with the support of 14 descriptors for morphometric characterization established by FAO. On these measurements, body weight and length of the tarsus were selected due to their direct relationship with the productive characteristics of interest to the study. Ten biotypes of indigenous chicken were identified having evident physical differences among them. By using a multivariate statistical analysis, the biotypes were grouped in three clusters for females and in two clusters for males.

The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between the quantity of cattle and methane emissions, in a study period of ten years, allowing to respond to the problem posed regarding the magnitude of CH4 emissions in the province. from Manabi. The study was based on the guides and guidelines issued by the intergovernmental panel on climate change, 2006, using the IPCC 2006 version 2.10 software. The results showed that CH4 emissions are considerably high, 531.68 Gg. CH4, highlighting enteric fermentation emissions, with approximately 50 times more methane than manure management emissions. Likewise, non-dairy cattle are responsible for a higher number of methane emissions compared to dairy cattle, in the case of enteric fermentation, with 287,724Gg. CH4, while for manure management, the highest emissions are generated by dairy cattle, with 7,217 Gg. of CH4. The hypothesi...

The article explores the use of convolutional neural networks, specifically ResNet-50, to detect weevils in corn kernels. Weevils are a major pest of stored maize and can cause significant yield and quality losses. The study found that the ResNet-50 model was able to distinguish with high precision between weevil-infested corn kernels and healthy kernels, achieving values of 0.9464 for precision, 0.9310 for sensitivity, 0.9630 for specificity, 0.9469 for quality index, 0.9470 for the area under the curve (AUC) and 0.9474 for the F-score. The model was able to recognize nine out of ten weevil-free corn kernels using a minimal number of training samples. These results demonstrate the efficiency of the model in the accurate detection of weevil infestation in maize grains. The model's ability to accurately identify weevil-affected grains is critical to taking rapid action to control th...

The aim of this article is to report an atypical case of Heck's disease, given its single-site positivity for HPV genotypes 56, 71 and 74, with different biological significance. This disease is a benign oral pathology with variable prevalence according to geographic region and ethnic group; its etiology is multifactorial, in which the human papillomavirus (HPV), genotypes 13 and 32 play a leading role. However, in the last ten years, sporadic cases of this pathology have been documented, positive for non-classical genotypes and high oncogenic risk. The clinical and histopathological picture found in the patient's oral cavity was consistent with the entity in reference, confirmed by a molecular study based on polymerase chain reaction for HPV genotypes 56, 71 and 74. In conclusion, the present case is considered unusual due to positivity for genotypes that have not been documented in thi...

The contamination variables that affect the water quality of the Chibunga River microbasin were evaluated by applying the community of criteria, accepted and defined for the research. The calculation of the Water Quality Index was made with the following variables: pH, dissolved oxygen, lead, cadmium, BOD5, fecal coliforms, phosphates, nitrates, total suspended solids, oils and fats and tensoactives monitored in ten points, four campaigns, and in dry and rainy season. Pollution factors whose quality is most affected in the dry season are dissolved oxygen and lead with poor quality, and in suspended periods suspended solids; The quality of fecal coliforms in all seasons and seasons monitored is terrible. The average water quality index for the microbasin in the period 2013 to 2017 is 58, indicating a REGULAR or little polluted state of it, it can be considered acceptable but not recommend...

This exploratory study analyzed ten factors related to motivation towards job satisfaction, as proposed by Herzberg, Mausner, and Snyderman (1959), and their influence on faculty performance in a representative sample of faculty members of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador between 2010 and 2011. These factors included work characteristics (internal factors) as well as context characteristics where work is performed (external factors). The effect that some faculty members' characteristics, such as faculty time category (i.e. full-time, half-time, part-time), position category, and gender had on job satisfaction and on the motivational factors was also analyzed. Statistical analysis showed that the external factor “job supervision” was a significant predictor of faculty performance. Statistically significant differences were found in some specific motivational factors, depe...
