This article aspires to be a contribution to an anthropological approach on housing and habitat, understanding both notions as complex socio-cultural phenomena. In this sense, our aim is to reflect —from an ethnographic point of view— on the processes whereby living spaces are appropriated, as well as to reflect on certain features that neighbors’ sociability adopts in a social-interest housing complex built as a large urban unit in the South-East area of Buenos Aires, specifically in the barrio of Villa Soldati. This articles analyzes, from a qualitative approach, the 1995 Pan-American Physical Education Congress taken place in Peru as a space for socialization, dissemination of knowledge, sharing of theoretical perspectives, as well as space of legitimization for some experts, influence and power for some international organizations. The article seeks to understand how knowledges, experts and organizations validate certain “true” meanings that conceptualize the vast universe of physical culture, physical education and sports. The interpretative examination focuses in various documentary sources, such as minutes and memories of the Congress, presentations by experts, the subjects of the presentations, and memories of other Pan-American congresses. Additionally, the study includes semi-structured interviews to organizers and attendees.

This article analyzes features of the author’s artistic research in which he investigates space and time through soundwalking, an immersive and embodied practice with the capacity to engage critical attention and reanimate otherwise familiar surroundings. Inspired by social geographer Doreen Massey’s (2005) conception of space as “a simultaneity of stories so far” and “always in the process of being made,” the author’s soundwalks explore the points of intersection at which space is produced. This article presents preliminary advances from a survey of the backstrap loom´s components names, currently in use in three highlands provinces of La Libertad: Otuzco, Santiago de Chuco and Sánchez Carrión; part of the consensual area of the culle language, belonging to the colonial bishopric of Trujillo. It begins with a brief discussion on the role of textiles in the Andean world, and the analytical categories such as discontinuous territorialities and cultural configurations, which allow us to understand the processes of textile production in this area. This article presents an experience carried out by the faculty of the third year of the Infant Education degree at the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona (Spain). A proposal for multidisciplinary intervention that joins two modules: one for arts (musical, corporal, visual, and plastic education) and another for sciences (mathematics, and experimental and social sciences). The intervention stems from a generating idea—the book “Alice in Wonderland”—which allows for connections between the contents of the modules, involves co-teaching, multidisciplinary work, and shared evaluation experiences. The aim of the study is to get to know the perception of the participating faculty about the changes in the didactic components involved in the experience. (A) Being in the City: Performing Arts Walk is a practice-based research project of artistic, performing and interdisciplinary intervention in the streets of Downtown Historic Lima staged in 2018 and 2019. This article shares its conceptual and methodological starting points, centered in the academic discussion about the configuration of the cities and the urban space, in which we take side in the everyday practices and the interactions that they hold, as the axes that configure the city, as well as the performative turn, which values subjectivity in research processes. It also presents this project’s reflexive origin about the being as entity and action, and its research axes that explore dimensions linked to the artistic, performative and knowledge of the city aspects. Finally, it shares the artistic decisions and the creative results to which we arrived.

The concept of soundscape was incorporated in the late 1960s, from the field of acoustics and music, to address the problem of excessive noise in cities and disorderly urban planning, which has led to residential areas ‒which are supposed to be quiet‒ are juxtaposed with commercial and/or production activities that degrade the quality of hearing life. Starting in 2002, it was realized that the concept of soundscape could also be used as a tool to build a sound identity, whether to preserve historical sound environments, rescue “lost” sound activities from anthropology or create auditorily healthy zones within the cities. Between October 4 and 14, 2024, I inhabited La casa de la reescritura del capítulo 2, an artistic space located in the community of La Paisanita (Córdoba, Argentina) and coordinated by Asunción Casa Editora. During my stay, I dedicated time to work on a photobook project scheduled for publication this year.
