While it is true that vaccines generate immunity with a high degree of effectiveness and that in Peru, a certain time was spent initiating the COVID-19 disease, a vaccination process that was developed logistically. The objective was to obtain the mathematical model of the COVID-19 vaccination process in Peru, to estimate the number of people vaccinated, the critical time for which the estimated rate of vaccinated people has been the highest value, and to specify the date on which the highest number of people vaccinated has occurred. The methodology was based on determining the form of dispersion of the vaccination process, this being a logistic distribution and considering that a mathematical model is a mathematical description, by means of a function of a real-world phenomenon, such as the number of people vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease. The model presented a correlation coeff...

In this study, waste hairs of the enzymatic unhairing process (PPE) of tannery were used as adsorbents to remove lead of a solution. Waste hairs were treated with acid hydrolysis and used in the type batch adsorption experiments, to be examined the effect of pH on the adsorption and also to investigate the mechanism of adsorption for which studies adsorption isotherms and the adsorption kinetics of Pb (II) were performed on treated hairs. The results showed that adsorption of Pb (II) was pH dependent with the optimum pH of 7. Isotherm studies showed that experimental data match the pattern of the Langmuir isotherm for the case of treated hairs of the enzymatic unhairing process (PTPE). The maximum adsorption capacity was 321.20 mg Pb (II)/g of bioadsobent (PTPE). The kinetic studies showed that the reaction model of pseudo-second order best describes the adsorption process. Finally, the ...

The requirement of vaccines for the prevention of Covid-19 has become one of the health priorities of different countries worldwide (1, 2). However, most societies still do not have the necessary number of vaccines to cover their entire target population (3, 4). This is especially true in countries that delayed negotiations with the supply companies, and which will, unfortunately, have to wait a long time for the arrival of sufficient quantities to protect their populations. On the other hand, the global vaccination process has established priority levels among its citizens, specifically starting with the so-called first line of action which is health professionals attending to Covid-19 patients, due to the great risk to which they are exposed. Additionally, the health organizations of the different countries have proposed to continue the vaccination process according to different criter...

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a devastating economic, social and health toll. Although vaccines have been developed to combat it, access to them was not equitable for all, especially in developing countries. Peru faces additional challenges: poor health and road infrastructure, a tight health budget and shortage of healthcare personnel. The objective of this study is to define the optimal location for vaccination centers in the most adverse regions of Peru. A mathematical model for the optimization of the location is presented taking as a reference the Set Covering, Maximal Covering and P- Median models. Coverage, location costs and travel distance were prioritized. The sample used was the district of Kimbiri in Cusco. Of the seventy rural communities and nine health centers available, 55 and 7 were included, respectively. One vaccination center was assigned per rural community. The re...

This article will analyse the story «Los barbones», a text that forms part of Ricardo Palma,s Tradiciones peruanas, which mentions the Hospitaller Order of the Bethlemites. The relationship between this order and the process of vaccination against smallpox in Peru at the beginning of the 19th century will be studied. It will also review how vaccination protects the human body from different diseases and the impact it has had on world health, as the technique of immunization revolutionized contemporary medicine. It will also examine the types of vaccines and the relevance of immunizations concerning the current situation of COVID-19.

This article analyses policy learning processes in decision-making during the process of vaccination against COVID-19, defined in two phases: vaccine procurement and vaccination campaigns, in Latin American countries. On the one hand, it is argued that some of the strategies implemented are explained through policy diffusion mechanisms. Among these, we can consider the definition of priority population groups or the implementation of doses through COVAX. Other measures derive from the operational capacities previously created by governments, such as the deployment of mobile, cross-border or awareness-raising vaccination and health campaigns to address previous infections in the region. Methodologically, a descriptive review of the COVID-19 vaccine supply chain is proposed based on institutional information. In addition, reflections are made on the need for governments to acquire knowledg...

The health sector was not the only one affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the rapid spread of this virus had an impact on education, the economy, work, tourism, among other sectors. This situation led various pharmaceutical laboratories around the world to initiate research to develop a vaccine. As a result of these international investigations, in the middle of 2020, a vaccination process was carried out; meanwhile, in Peru this process began at the beginning of 2021.  In this article, the author studies whether the Peruvian legal system allows the mandatory application of the COVID-19 vaccine. In order to achieve that, a balancing of rights was made between the individual freedom of those who do not wish to be vaccinated and public health. Additionally, he maintains that a measure such as restricting access to closed spaces must consider the principles of reasonableness and propor...

The current media context is characterized as a hybrid system in which old and new actors coexist and, at the same time, compete for their hegemony in the media sphere. In this context, Covid-19 has generated an “infodemic” or information overexposure that has made it difficult for citizens to access reliable sources and guidance. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to characterize the political, institutional and media actors who have reported on Twitter about vaccines and immunization processes during the Covid-19 pandemic in five Ibero-American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain and Mexico. To this end, a total of 68,822 tweets from 84 accounts belonging to the country's presidents, the official accounts of governments, health authorities and their spokespersons, and the main media have been analyzed. The results indicate that the most intense activity and the...

Five cases of dogs with protective IgG antibody titres against canine Parvovirus are describe. The antibody titres were acquired through vaccination or by infection with field strains and that were infected by canine parvovirus in the natural state, developing clinical signs of the disease. Faecal samples from affected dogs were processed using PCR and nested PCR, and amplicons were sequenced for virus genotyping. The results showed that these dogs were infected with canine parvovirus type 2C, indicating that protective IgG antibodies obtained by previous vaccination or infection with field virus were not able to prevent infection or reinfection against canine parvovirus type 2C.
