Transmission lines are structures built to provide energy for the population's consumption. However, these lines have a direct or indirect impact on ecosystems, altering their composition and biotic interactions. The objective of this study was to determine the floristic composition, pollination, and dispersal syndromes in the transmission and subtransmission lines Las Flores-Erandique (SFE), San Pedro Sula Sur-Naco (TSPS), and Danlí-Chichicaste (SChD) in Honduras. To conduct the vegetation characterization, the present flora within the 16 × 16 m right-of-way area was inventoried, and herbs, shrubs, and trees were collected. To establish the relationship between habitat and floral traits, and determine the pollination syndromes, flower size and corolla colors were based, while dispersal syndromes were determined considering different characteristics in fruit morphology, fruit type, col...

Pain is a sign of illness and a common complain that bring patients to a health care facility. It is classified in acute or chronic pain, nociceptive or neuropathic, and according to conduction velocity, fast or slowly. C and Aδ- fibers respond to stimuli and produce the experience of pain, this defines them as nociceptors. Central pathways of pain include: nociceptors respond to stimuli and produce the experience of pain when they are electrically stimulated (Transduction); axons of nociceptors enter the spinal cord via the dorsal root, where Glutamate are Substance P are released, spinal neurons send their axons to the contralateral thalamus (Transmission); the perceived intensity of pain can be modulated by brain circuits (Modulation). Pain inhibition is achieved by calcium channel blockage and open potassium channel by endogenous and exogenous opioids, due hyperpolarization of the c...

The Unified power flow controller (UPFC) is the most important contribution of the power electronics in the modern Electrical Power Systems. The UPFC is able to decouple the control of the active and reactive power sent trough the transmission line. This control is performed byinjecting in series with the transmission line a voltage with regulated magnitude and phase, generated by a PWM voltage source inverter (VSI). When the current flow in the line originate in the inverter an active and reactive power. The active part of the power require to be eithersupplied or absorbed by a device, e.g. a second inverter. In this paper, simulation result obtained with a fundamental model of UPFC connected to a simple AC transmission system, and a control system base on "dq" transformation necessary to obtained the P and Q decoupled control ispresented.

This paper presents an optimal control strategy for the Zika virus disease with sexual transmission. A mathematical model for the transmission of the Zika virus is considered with three preventive measures as control, namely: the prevention of the sexual contagion with the use of condoms and the orientation in the transmission of Zika in the homosexual and heterosexual relations, the campaigns against vectors and the protection of the society regarding the contagion by mosquito bites. We examine the implementation of various combinations of the control strategies in order to determine the most cost-effective one. The necessary conditions for the optimal controls are determined using Pontryaguin’s maximum principle and the optimality problem is solved using Runge-Kutta fourth order scheme. Based on the computational results, we conclude that the most efficient control strategy is when i...

The COVID-19 pandemic has put the world’s governments in an unprecedented situation in which it is necessary to make quick decisions regarding the best strategies to reduce transmission. As part of these strategies, disinfection booths in the community are being implemented in many parts of the world. This document seeks to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the disinfection booth for people to use in the community through an exhaustive search in the main bibliographic databases as well as in the main relevant institutions worldwide. After conducting the search, we found three technical documents in which the use of these technologies is not recommended because there is insufficient evidence and because they are of potential risk for people due to mucosal conditions. Another WHO recommendation document, although it does not specifically mention&...

Background: Public health policies for decreasing the incidence, transmission, and mortality of COVID-19 focus on extradomiciliary measures and neglect transmission within the home. We aimed to estimate the rate of secondary home attack of SARS-CoV-2. Material and Methods: We conducted a systematic review of observational studies that evaluated home transmission of SARS-CoV-2 published between December 2019 and September 1, 2021 in Medline, Scopus, LILACS, and Google Scholar databases. The definition of household contact referred to any person living in the same house as the index patient. The risk of bias was assessed with a modified version of the Newcastle-Ottawa tool. A meta-analysis was performed with a random-effects model to calculate the household attack rate, subanalysis with sociodemographic, epidemiological variables, and comorbidities, as well as meta-regression. Results: O...

The main objective on this research is the development of finding the optimal parameters for a routing algorithm for network routers based on the ant algorithm described as AntNet. The optimum parameters for this type of algorithm improve a more efficient alternative to those given by the RIP, EIGRP and OSPF routing protocols, to be applied in a data network. This shall be tested in two networks and routers defined, taking the same characteristics for the three groups: RIP, OSPF and by the result provided by the genetic algorithm implemented using a static network. The system recognizes the best path between networks of routers, based on the principle of AntNet networks or networks of ants, which are the best way from exploring almost all roads, using estimergia to go there and make optimal. MatLab was used to detect the best way. Later this road was implemented in a real network data, s...

998/5000 This work explains the need for a geological and geotechnical research model to define the foundation for structures (towers and poles) of electric transmission lines. In practical engineering, it has been found that in some project studies of this type, geological investigations are diminished or dispensed with, thereby damaging geotechnical investigations based on knowledge of geological sciences. Because of this there is also less confidence in stability and security for future works to be built. With this research, the methodologies of geological and geotechnical investigations are broadly exposed, and a tentative general model of geological and geotechnical investigations to define the foundation of the structures of electric transmission lines is presented. In this research is analyzed COVID-19 transmission by thermodynamic and energy balance between geographic areas and its correlation with possible COVID-19 transmission between 2 persons at least. In order to achieve parameters for medical doctors, as for example the minimal distance among two infected people, who have this virus, there were designed mathematical models that were based in statistical data to get information of COVID-19 propagation as the dependence on temperature of geographic areas, moreover the thermal effect of the minimal distance between two people avoiding COVID-19 infection. With this work, answers are sought to the questions: if it could be possible to find a relation between temperature and virus transmission? Or if it could be possible to get a correlation variable among thermal variables with minimal distance separation (it was described above) for two people? ...

The present research work shows that for the construction of a transmission line 220 kv. from Cajamarca – Carhuamayo, was emitted to the atmosphere 4025 tons of CO2 equivalent, which leads us to think that all activity is responsible for the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere Which will lead to Global Warming to lead us to Climate Change afterwards. This work was made on the basis of 2 scopes; scope 1 caused by fuel consumption and scope 2 caused by electricity consumption, from which scope 1 represents 93% to 3756 tons of CO2 compared with 7% from scope 2 with 2 269 tons of CO2 equivalent, this is due to that the main input for the development of this construction project was fuel. This makes the company to take the right measures to decrease on what is most affecting GHG emissions and focus efforts on it.
