The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of virtual and hybrid teaching methods, leading to substantial changes in educational approaches. This study focused on evaluating the effect of mediating technologies on post-pandemic educational processes, emphasizing their essential role in enhancing interaction and cooperation between teachers and students. Although their relevance is evident, challenges persist in terms of access, quality, and evaluation of technological educational initiatives. To address these challenges, a comprehensive literature review was conducted, examining 26 international academic studies published in the last five years. The findings indicate that mediating technologies positively influence motivation, student retention, and self-directed learning, especially in higher education and language teaching. However, the effects vary depending on the context. It is ...

There is a theoretical need for the pedagogical analysis, the presence and use of the New Information and Communication Technologies in the educational processes, this article proposes to recognize, from a sociocultural perspective, the Virtual Environments of Learning as an instrument of mediation. This means, as a component adding to the educational activity two orientations: as structure of external action and as a source for internal representation. Formulated in this way, a virtual learning environment orients itself towards proper ways of technological performance in the educational process. Simultaneously this triggers in students, new forms of cognitive regulation that offer new opportunities and strategies as a condition of learning. This perspective is part of the pedagogic dimension necessary for a pertinent application and orientation of learning in virtual trainning.

Introduction: The Classroom Motivational Climate (CMC) studies how teaching action patterns are related to student motivation. Objective: To investigate student and teacher perceptions of CMC in first-year university classes mediated by technology and analyze possible differences according to the teacher-student ratio. Method: A qualitative methodology was used through a case study design, where 144 students and 18 teachers participated. The instruments used were pedagogical narratives and semi- structured interviews. A content analysis was carried out with a deductive approach. The reliability of the inter-coding process was verified by Krippendorff’s alpha coefficient (α=.84). Results: The most relevant components of CMC according to students and teachers were: affection and emotional support, encouragement of participation, clarity in the organization, use of novelty, frequent use ...

The relationship between executive functions (EF), creative personality, and academic performance in Argentine university students was examined. A total of 248 students (M = 22.97 years, SD = 4.43) from various Argentine provinces participated. The Adult Executive Functioning Inventory (ADEXI), the Cognitive Flexibility Scale, the Creative Behavior Scale (ECC), and the Creative Personality Scale (EPC) were used, along with academic performance data and sociodemographic information. Data were collected online through Google Forms and analyzed using Spearman correlations and mediation analysis with robust Maximum Likelihood estimator and Bootstrap. Cognitive flexibility exhibited the most robust correlation with grade point average (r = .281, p < .001), followed by working memory difficulties (r = -.234, p < .001). Creative personality correlated positively with grade point average (...

The lockdown situation has exposed citizens to a profusion of information about COVID-19, both official and unofficial, with different sources and varying degrees of reliability. Uncertainty spurs the search for information since the health of citizens depends on it. This study explores the mediation processes involved in building trust in actors linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and media consumption on the prevention measures that citizens take for their care. A representative sample of 1211 Mexican citizens was subject to the study. Among the main results is that citizens are very informed about COVID-19, engage in considerable media consumption, and have substantial institutional trust, particularly in non-governmental organizations. Regarding prevention measures, these are associated with people's trust in health sector employees. Likewise, regarding the acceptance of both true and fa...

The interrelationship between the modern processes of urbanization and mediatization is a sociocultural key of Latin America in the 21st century. The mediatization of everyday life, expressed herein through the consumption of television, crosses different urban spaces: megalopolises, large cities, medium-sized cities and small towns. In particular, this text shows how television consumption is also deployed in a scenario of digital transition, the agro-city of Argentina, a specific hybrid territory made up of the integration of urban and rural features. This study includes three operations of a methodological convergence or triangulation strategy: a) the discussion of the background, relevance and significance of the “agro-city” notion within the frame of the sociocultural theory in order to understand its implications on studies about the relationships between communication, media a...
