Discursive translation allows us to explain how discourses, genres, or formats are transferred and adapted from an existing medium to an emerging one. To verify this phenomenon, the present research focused on studying this process in journalistic coverage of Ibero-American film festivals. Therefore, the objective is to describe the development of the methods of discursive translation and hybridisation of journalistic genres applied to reporting on film festivals in Ibero-America. Regarding the methodology, a qualitative approach was used with a reflexive thematic analysis design, applying the semi-structured interview technique to journalists who cover festivals and event managers. Regarding the results, discursive translation is being carried out intensively by journalists who create their digital media and are hybridising a variety of journalistic genres, which is allowing the revital...

The university is faced with tensions and demands resulting from the transformations that society demands. The new public management (NGP) imposes new paradigms as far as university administration is concerned. Concomitantly, the international rankings of universities establish standards and classifications, placing the focus on access to information that should be available to interest groups. This work has been proposed as a central purpose, to describe the ways of appointing the rectors in Latin American universities, with the purpose of elaborating in theoretical terms a taxonomy that allows to differentiate and classify the universities of the region, opening the discussion on what is the most appropriate mechanism to provide the position of the highest university authority. The information used for this study was obtained from a primary source: the database of universities in Latin...

Culture and national identity are key aspects of the social and economic development of a country. Consequently, cultural communication promotes the processes linked to artistic activities and cultural manifestations that allow preserving the values of a nation and contribute to human and social development, creating a full awareness of the importance of cultural diversity at local, national, and international levels. This article, based on a descriptive-correlational study, evaluates and compares the effectiveness of governmental communication on YouTube about culture in the 19 Ibero-American countries that have a channel on this platform. The communication 2.0 index is used for this purpose (Altamirano-Benítez et al., 2018a; Túñez-López et al., 2016). The results reveal a scarce use of the potential of this channel as a tool for the promotion and dissemination of culture that incre...

The Theory of Social Representations, proposed by Serge Moscovici in 1961, is a milestone in understanding social thought. This study analyzed 285 abstracts from Ibero-American psychology journals available in the SciELO database, processed with the IRAMuTeQ software. Five thematic classes were identified within two main axes: the first addresses methodological aspects, Class 1 (analysis techniques and software) and Class 2 (sample characteristics); the second concerns the development of studies on Social Representations, Class 3 (family-related themes), Class 4 (health themes), and Class 5 (contents of Moscovici’s Theory). It was found that IRAMuTeQ structured classes consistent with the abstracts and highlighted the predominance of Moscovici’s theoretical

The current media context is characterized as a hybrid system in which old and new actors coexist and, at the same time, compete for their hegemony in the media sphere. In this context, Covid-19 has generated an “infodemic” or information overexposure that has made it difficult for citizens to access reliable sources and guidance. Therefore, the main objective of this article is to characterize the political, institutional and media actors who have reported on Twitter about vaccines and immunization processes during the Covid-19 pandemic in five Ibero-American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain and Mexico. To this end, a total of 68,822 tweets from 84 accounts belonging to the country's presidents, the official accounts of governments, health authorities and their spokespersons, and the main media have been analyzed. The results indicate that the most intense activity and the...

This systematic review examines and summarizes the empirical literature on coping strategies (CS) used by transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) people when facing minority stress, with special interest in Ibero and Latin-American research. PRISMA-P criteria were used with searches across Web of Science, Scopus, Academic Search Complete, PsycInfo and Scielo databases. Cross-sectional and longitudinal, quantitative, qualitative and mixed studies published in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese were considered. Nineteen papers including only adolescent, young and/or adult TGNC participants were finally selected. The findings reveal a prevalence of qualitative research, with almost no presence of Iberian or Latin American studies. The application of the minority stress model underscores the unique impact of gender-related stressors on TGNC individuals' mental health. Moreover, CS va...

Disinformation has become a critical problem in contemporary societies, threatening democratic processes, public health, and social cohesion. In Ibero-America, the spread of fake news and deceptive content has gained prominence over the past decade, driven by the massive penetration of social networks and messaging apps. This article presents a review of scientific literature on fake news and disinformation in the Ibero-American context, with emphasis on the fundamental role of media, information, and digital literacy for future generations. It addresses the concepts of fake news and disinformation, their documented social impacts, and the responses developed by academia and public policy. The review highlights how media and information literacy is emerging as a key strategy —complementing legal and technological measures— to strengthen critical thinking and citizen resilience agains...

This thesis investigated the criteria that justify the application of plea bargaining during the preliminary examination of peruvian criminal procedure, in order to highlight the great utility of this alternative, the need for its application and the benefits it brings to our Criminal justice system. The research was performed using the analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive, hermeneutical-legal and comparative methods. Techniques such as documentary collection, normative interpretation, interview and descriptive statistics were used, which allowed the integration of variables for analysis. Also, a theoretical framework was developed regarding the most relevant legal figures of the thesis topic, which allowed to clearly identify and characterize each one of them. From the results and conclusions arrived at, the criteria for the application of plea bargaining during the preliminary exa...

This article systematizes the learning experiences developed by members of a film analysis community of practice whose purpose was to educate gazes to offer resistance to the coloniality of seeing. It describes the theoretical foundations of decolonial audiovisual literacy, and the political-pedagogical project from which the education process was promoted. In addition, it presents the films that were analyzed and the criteria that guided the selection process. It explains from which assumptions and in which way the systematization of experiences was carried out by facilitators and apprentices participating in the Sound Film Grammar subject of the Specialization in Film Studies (EEC) of the University of Veracruz (Mexico): a graduate program where apprentices from diverse academic disciplines participate. By presenting empirical evidence of the apprentices’ voices and gazes, it describ...

Currently, it is common to find not only sections of health journalism adapted to their digital media but also specialized media created to generate exclusive content for the Internet, as well as journalists, who are the key players in the process of construction and contextualization of health information, and are better adapted to the Internet to meet the expectations and demands of users who increasingly depend on new technologies. Using in-depth interviews conducted with ten journalists from four Mexican cybermedia, this article analyzes how health journalism adapts to the interactivity, hypertextuality, multimedia and immediacy of cyberjournalism to carry out journalistic practices that allow the construction of informative content. Moreover, it reveals that the shortage of journalists in cybermedia and the lack of skills related to the digital environment represent the main o...

Twenty-five years have passed since Roger Silverstone and other researchers proposed domestication —that is, the process by which an animal or plant species is transformed in order to live with humans— as an appropriate metaphor to understand how technological devices are incorporated into people’s daily lives, starting the journey of the technology domestication framework. This proposal was highly productive in theoretical and empirical terms, giving rise to a set of reflections and inquiries and becoming part of the usual background of research on the processes of appropriation of technologies carried out from a sociocultural perspective. In this review, we propose to present the main guidelines of its approach, review the results of the investigations that it has given rise to, and discuss its limits and the necessary adaptations to account for current technocommunicational phen...
