In the Mexican food industry, the presence of large companies or family economic groups in various branches is identified. In this research, the development of the Bimbo Family Group is particularized, which, parallel to its growth in the national market, began its internationalization process in 1984, prior to the establishment of the trade liberalization policy. Objective: to analyze the corporate structure and competitive strategies used by Grupo Bimbo to organize itself as a successful economic group and consolidate itself in the national and international market. In its beginnings in Mexico, the renewal of liberalism manifested itself as support for the alternative project of economic nationalism adopted by the financial elite throughout the 20th century. However, economic nationalism was established as an ideology that supported the economic policy of the State. The objective of this study was to know the main theoretical characteristics and particularities of the neoliberal model that allowed the economic groups of the country and especially those of Monterrey to accumulate and reproduce capitalism successfully. In Mexico, in the food industry there are thousands of economic units that guarantee internal demand, however, the market is controlled by large companies. The production of corn flour does not escape this reality, since two large participants are identified: Gruma and Minsa. This study defines the evolution of Grupo Herdez, leader in the sector, it has positioned itself as one of the most outstanding groups in Mexico with a presence in the United States.
