Since the discovery of the double helix by Watson and Crick, biotechnological advances related to the world of genetics, have yielded rapid jumps for humanity. Major milestones such as DNA sequencing, the Human Genome Project, the cloning of the Dolly sheep, and even the development of genetically modified phosphorescent cats to shine in the dark, among others, have been possible with these advances. Genetic engineering is a possibility thanks to this development of science, and so since 2012, the emergence of a new technique that uses the system known as CRISPR/Cas9 has opened the borders globally, to the era of gene editing, in a faster, easier and more accessible way. When talking about new technologies of genetic modification, especially if it is about the modification of the germ line, the bioethical impact must be

The aim of this study was to establish the frequency of resistance and susceptible genotypes to scrapie in the Junin sheep breed. For this, 56 blood samples were collected in a sheep farm in the central highlands of Peru. The DNA was extracted and the PCR products were analyzed by enzymatic digestion using restriction endonucleases that recognize the PrP gene polymorphisms. Four of the 5 haplotypes reported for the PrP gene were identified: ARR (48.2%), ARQ (35.7%), AHQ (10.7%) and VRQ (5.4%). In addition, 7 of the 15 reported genotypes for the Prion gene were found: ARR/ARR (17.9%), ARR/AHQ (10.7%), ARR/ARQ (42.9%), ARQ/AHQ (10.7%), ARQ/ARQ (7.1%), ARR/VRQ (7.1%) and ARQ/VRQ (3.6%). Finally, 82.1% of the animals had genotypes resistant to the disease and 17.9% showed genotypes of susceptibility.

Few decades ago, several studies have described well the relation that exists between dietary habits and chronic disease, therefore the critical part of prevention disease strategy has consisted of changing the dietary habits. However, it has not been had into consideration that nutrients oi diets interact with genes. Thanks to development of nutrigenetics, and nutrigenomics the tuture dietary recommendations will have in consideration the interaction between genes and nutrients. The nutrigenetics study the influence of genetic variability in nutrient respond (interaction Gen--> Nutrient). In other hand, the nutrigenomics study the influence of nutrient in gene expression (interaction Nutrlent --> Gen). Both disciplines give rise to a new era "Molecular Nutrition" . The íncreasing knowledge of interaction gene-nutrient promises to revolutionize the handling of chronic diseases. It...

Objective. To describe the genes expressing carbapenemase resistance present in Pseudomona aeruginosa. Methods. The scientific literature was reviewed using the PRISMA method during February 2020 in the Pubmed, Scopus and Scielo databases. Results. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is described as the most commonly used technique; in addition, molecular white hyperexpression genes of multiple ejection pumps that generate bacterial resistance were found. Conclusions. Conventional and multiplex PCR is the most widely used technique for the diagnosis of genes that express resistance to carbapenemases present in Pseudomona aeruginosa of patients with cystic fibrosis, being the most standardized and have high sensitivity, and specificity, also having detected IMP, VIM, OXA, MexAB-OprM, MexCD-OprJ, MexEF-OprN and MexXY-OprM genes.

The objective of the present work was to characterize the simple nucleotide polymorphism 316 and 4751 of the CAPN and 2959 gene and CAST1 of the CAST gene in the Colombian creole breed Hartón del Valle. A total of 126 individuals were genotyped by PCR-RFLP for the four loci. All markers were polymorphic. The CC genotype of the CAPN-316 locus and the heterozygote in the other three loci were more frequent. The frequencies of the alleles positively associated with meat quality were C = 21.8 ± 17.5% in CAPN-316, C = 48.4 ± 10.1% in CAPN-4751, T = 52.5 ± 11.4% in CAST-1 and A = 65.1 ± 15.5% in CAST-2959. In all the loci the Ho (0.599 ± 0.248) was higher than the He (0.410 ± 0.081) with negative values of FIS and FIT and with deviations of EHW only in CAPN-4751. The FST value was 0.048 (p<0.05) and the AMOVA showed that the variation in these loci was mostly due to individuals (97%)...
