We study a system formed by M dimers through half-filled two-site Hubbard model, with two electrons. Our approach use the third version of Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics as tool for calculating thermodynamic and magnetic parameters such as entropy, internal energy, magnetization and specific heat. In the computer simulations, we vary the q entropic index values between 1 and 2, such that, q = 1.0, 1.4, 1.7 and 2.0. These values are interesting to study small magnetic systems. We find the critical temperature regions in simulations with the simple Hubbard model, i.e. without the intersite interaction. For other side, adding this additional term, we notice an enlargement and shifting of the thermodynamic parameters comparing with the obtained from simple Hubbard model; even more, we found in some cases the absence of the critical temperature regions.

The cryoprotectant effect of two hypertonic extenders (trehalose and lactose) on the post-thawing characteristics of ram semen (n=4) was evaluated. The extender composition included Tris 27.1 g/l, Citric acid 14.0 g/l, Fructose 10.0 g/l, Glycine 10.0 g/l, egg yolk 10.0% (v/v) and Glycerol 6.5% (v/v). Semen was collected in an artificial vagina. Seminal characteristics were: volume: 1.1 ± 0.1 ml, sperm concentration: 3.50 ± 0.1 x 109/ml, individual motility: 87.0 ± 2.4%, wave motility (scale 0-5): 4.4 ± 0.2, live sperms: 90.2 ± 3.8%, and abnormal sperms: 1.8 ± 0.7%. Semen was frozen in 0.5 ml straws and stored in liquid nitrogen. Straws were thawed after 3 months. Results of post-thawing evaluation were: individual motility: 40.3 ± 5.9 and 30.0 ± 5.0%, and live sperms: 34.4 ± 6.6 and 24.3 ± 5.0% for the Trehalose and Lactose extenders respectively. Extenders have been established as an alternative to compensate the antioxidant deficiencies of stallion semen during freezing. Several research works have aimed to evaluate the effect of various additives with antioxidant properties on the equine sperm cryotolerance; however, in limited occasions this has been linked with the extender total antioxidant capacity (TAC). This research aimed to evaluate the effect of two additives on freezing extender TAC and stallion semen cryotolerance. Semen of five Colombian Creole horses was frozen in an extender under three treatments: T0: control, T1: quercetin 100 μM, T2: phosphates and carbonates (Na2HPO4 0.32 mg/ml + KH2PO4 0.67 mg/ml + K2CO3 0.39 mg/ml). The aim of this research was to evaluate the use of different extenders for cooling of rabbit semen and its effect on sperm quality. Thirty semen samples from 10 sexually mature rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) were used. Each sample was diluted separately in a 1:10 ratio in four extenders, composed of skim milk and sugars (T1); dextrose, sodium citrate, and potassium acetate (T2); sodium caseinates, phosphates and sugars (T3); and tris-citric acid and egg yolk (T4). The semen was kept at 16 °C for 72 hours. At the time of dilution and every 24 hours, total motility (MT), progressive motility (MP) and sperm kinetics were evaluated with the Sperm Class Analyzer® system, and vitality and morphology were evaluated by the eosin-nigrosin staining. The aim of this study was to evaluate sodium caseinate (CS) in the dilution and freezing of bovine semen. Fifteen ejaculates from five bulls were diluted and then individually frozen using a diluent composed of tris-glycerol-citric acid with 8% v/v of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and supplemented with CS in four treatments: CS 3% w/v (CS3), CS 4% w/v (CS4), CS 5% w/v (CS5) and without CS (Control). Se analizó el efecto de los dilutores Tris-glucosa y Ovine Freezing Buffer (UA 466/ 005238) sobre la motilidad e integridad de la membrana citoplasmática de los espermatozoides durante el proceso de congelación de semen ovino. Se utilizó el semen de cinco carneros (2 Assaf, 2 Canela y 1 Black Belly). El semen fresco fue de buena calidad y los valores de las características seminales estuvieron dentro de los parámetros de la especie.
