In the study of International Relations it is necessary to understand the role that Political Realism has played throughout the 20th century, for the study of the international panorama under an objective and systematic criterion of the action of States as well as political leaders or drivers. In that sense, Political Realism has been the tradition and theoretical approach that has provided greater success in understanding the rise and fall of power between States in the international arena, as well as the balance of power, the formation of alliances, conflicts and competitions between countries and blocks of countries, as well as arms races and wars between powers of global reach.

The statistics of the major international health organizations, shows that most affected by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are young, which also can have consequences that affect the rest of their lives. An audience study to understand how a selected sample of university students construct ideas about these diseases, how these notions are reflected in their sexual practice, and what sources prefer to learn on the subject, reveals that traditional media are no longer within of the main areas in which they obtain information or share ideas about STIs. Neither their schools provide reliable information on the subject. They prefer face-to-face communication, and the Internet and social networks to the extent that allow interactivity and dialogue. They favor a playful perspective as well as practical and useful information.

Nowadays, more and more people are turning to healthy eating, along with it, the consumption of active ingredients that have served as therapeutics in well-known traditional medicine. The objective of the work is a part of the abundant information that exists on the use of mango (Mangifera indica L.) to know its potential, understand where the research in recent years related to the use of secondary metabolisms of that mango is directed. This fruity, which could well be considered a model for all the benefits it offers. A search has been carried out using the PRISMA methodology to always use the same criteria in the SCOPUS, SciELO, REDALYC database and Google Academic as a search engine. In recent years, extraction methods have been improved and with it applications and studies with a scientific nature, which help explain its use in traditional medicine and project its future, although i...

This article is about the interpretation of the successful studies of a profession or trade regulated in the article 424 of the Civil Code as a presupposition of the right to maintenance of single sons (or single daughters) with legal age. For this, it starts from an analysis and understanding of the concepts and foundations of the right to maintenance, the law, Comparative Law, jurisprudence and all the presuppositions that set up this case regulated in order to propose an objective criterion as an interpretive parameter of what we should understand by “success in studies”.

In 1992, two volumes were published detailing the visits to Cajamarca in 1571-1572 and 1578. These contain important social, demographic and onomastic information for the linguistic history of the northern Peruvian Andes. Although the edition focused on the exhaustive record of the indigenous people from Bambamarca, Pomamarca andChondal made by the visitors, the complete dossier was not included in the publication. In this paper we propose to briefly describe the contents of the missing parts, which provides a better understanding of the context in which the visits took place. We also show that thesource of this publication is a transfer from another, as yet unknown, document. Taking the latter into account, we ponder the advantages and limitations of these visits as a source for studies on historical linguistics in the Andes.

The following article intends to highlight, by way of reflection, the philosophical constants that we can find in social and Andean studies. Gilson maintains in his work The Philosophical Constants that all philosophical positions can be summarized in two great currents, which would be, in our opinion, immanentism and philosophical realism. In this sense, we will show how both positions are expressed in social studies, and we will point out some central themes for said reflection; At the same time, we will highlight the need for a realistic philosophical foundation to carry out Andean studies. To achieve this goal, we have taken into account the publications that have been carried out in recent decades in the Allpanchis Phuturinqa journal.

Research in organizational management faces the challenge of understanding, building and disseminating knowledge about a study object that presents itself as something subjective, difficult and complex to handle: the organizations or a group of them. In this situation, the case study as a research strategy of social phenomena is seen as a relevant option for the researcher, in a context in which the use of intensive over extensive strategies improves the quality of the understanding of this phenomenon in relation to the context in which it occurs. In this perspective, this paper seeks to provide a clearer view of the case study research on organizational management through a review of the literature on the subject and the authors’ own experience on this topic, so that questions about the use, opportunity and feasibility of this strategy will be answered.

The aim of this article is to understand how day-to-day student classroom participation in an ordinary secondary Chilean school contributes to civic education towards democratic competency. The qualitative method adopted an ethnomethological perspective and used participant observation, unstructured interviews and document review techniques, all later analyzed inductively. The results show a lack of definition of classroom participation in institutional documents, sporadic implementation of participating events and a consensual passive role of students in the classroom. It concludes that classroom participation tends to teach students to consider their interactions as interruptions when dealing with their life outside the classroom and illegitimate in their expression, contributing negatively to their development of democratic competency.

The architecture of cities currently faces a process of globalization with patterns that are changing urban, social, economic, and cultural structures towards the paradigm of complexity with dynamics in constant interaction, resulting for urban studies an intricate and difficult to understand set. This change requires a systemic vision to recognize both the properties of the object and the behavior of the subjects, around an architectural system, which together add up to more than the whole. Reflection from the academy is important, assuming an interdisciplinary teaching and with an epistemological vision from the global south.

In this work, a general algorithm is proposed to design the reconstruction of chemical/physical/biological process events as one of the most complicated today: the evolution of cancer cells. Studying the evolution of the boundary curves it is possible to make a three-dimensional (3D) integration, in addition the 3D figure obtained can be explained through a mathematical model to estimate its geometric evolution after physical/chemical reactions. In this work, there are analyzed images of each stage of the process based on the evolution of cancer cells. Each image was processed in order to obtain a mathematical equation as a reference to understand the geometry of the 3D structure based on its 2D image for each stage. On the other side, with this information and the processing of each stage image, a mathematical equation was achieved to describe the geometry of the structure between stage...

Artificial Intelligence has reached journalism in different phases of the news production process, from the identification of news trends to data processing or the automatic production of texts, among others. Its potential manifests itself especially when there is a large amount of data, something that sections such as sports and economy can offer. Of the two options, in this work we chose sports journalism and, thus, we sought to know and understand how newspapers, radios, TV's and digital native products in Brazil and Portugal have been related to Artificial Intelligence. To achieve the proposed objectives, we sent a survey to the heads of several media in both countries with questions that helped us to realize that editors and managers know the contribution that AI can offer to their newsrooms. Among other results obtained, we highlight that the use of AI in the Brazilian media is mor...

In 1570 the Spanish Crown decided to create, in the overseas spaces, the Holy Office of the Inquisition in order to control, effectively, the religious manifestations of the people and their social behaviors, bringing intolerance towards those who had different practices. However, initially it had only two district courts installed in the viceroyalties capitals of Mexico and Peru. The other places, captaincies and governorates, were controlled by commissioners dependent on Mexico or Lima, as appropriate. In the case of the Government of Chile, several police stations were deployed between the two dioceses. However, they were not efficient enough to achieve the objectives proposed in the inquisitorial ideology, on the one hand because of precarious material, and on the other hand because of the lack of ad-hoc officials to fill the positions. This led to ...

Science is key to solving the challenge of managing ecosystems for sustainable development. How do we achieve the benefits that result from the transformation and exploitation of ecosystems, and at the same time preserve ecosystem services and protected areas? In the ecosystem of the Everglades, a subtropical wetland located in South Florida (United States), an economic and environmental transformation occurred in the middle of the 20th century. Today, the Everglades Restoration Program is addressing the challenge of maintaining the benefits of the transformed ecosystem while at the same time protecting and restoring Everglades National Park. An analysis of the governance of this program highlights three important aspects of the system with respect to science. First, the primary decision-making body is the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force, a diverse group of 14 a...

For some it may be impossible, and even unacceptable, to think that biology is interconnected with the social sciences. For many others, it is a complement that allows us to understand the behavior of social subjects in their interaction with their partners in society, to the extent that the social system is integrated by functional communications. However, in order to understand the functioning of society from its complexity, it is important to take up again some previous elements that reveal that social subjects act through their internal communications, that is, their merely biological communications that have effects on their dynamics and interaction in society.
