This paper presents the preliminary results of a pilot experiment in which prospective elementary school teachers have to solve arithmetic problems from elementary school textbooks related to the use of fractions through a technological environment. The main objective of the experiment, in addition to assessing the knowledge of the future teachers, is to measure the performance of the students based on the type of feedback received after answering multiple choice questions. The data collected allow us to verify the positive impact of using messages with aids compared to using only correct or error messages. On the other hand, we consolidate a methodology to use the measurement of student reading time provided by the technological environment as a proxy to determine the complexity of verbal problems.

The relationship between the body and the mind has been and still is a persistent dilemma that continues today after centuries of continuous discussions. Both, philosophers, and doctors have advocated diverse theories, with a myriad of questions, and various schools of thought that seek to answer the problem. This review is based on the following question: If we understand the origins of the relationship between body and mind, would the solutions be found in the fields of neuroscience and neurophilosophy? The etymology of the terms, mainly the prefixes “neuros”’ and “psyche”, is studied to delve into the Cartesian conception of the res cogitans and the res extensive. Based on the seven steps of philosophical research, this essay attempts to elucidate the essence of this scientific and philosophical problem contrasting dualism and monism, considering the material and spiritual l...

This research work starts with the question: What would be the reason why our compatriots choose to live in vulnerable areas, exposing their own life and that of their relatives? This question is relevant because it affects millions of compatriots (36% of the population, according to the Ministry of the Environment) and is applicable to any part of Peru. To answer the question an explanatory model is proposed, indicating variables of analysis, and their possible relationships, to make simulations, from the model. It is necessary to consider that the objective of the simulations is not to provide exact results, but to describe possible future behaviors, considering the actions that we take in the present. The proposed model considers a horizon of 50 years, and indicates that only if the problem is treated intensively the percentage of people in vulnerable areas could be reduced after a de...

In the present study, we will analyze the socioeconomic characteristics of households in relation to the dwellings they occupy in the regions of Arequipa and Piura, based on information from the National Household Survey (ENAHO, INEI, 2004-2017). We have selected these departments because, due to their population concentration and socioeconomic dynamics, they are representative of the housing problem in the country. We also consider that the housing policy through the MiVivienda and Techo Propio programs has had an important development in the regions in the last years, in general the beneficiaries of this last program, oriented to the social sectors C and D, are concentrated in provinces (Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS), 2015). From this frame of reference we will address the housing situation in the Arequipa and Piura regions, especially its impact on the qualit...

Behavioral problems in the classroom have a negative impact on the emotional well-being of students, as well as on the learning process and classroom climate. This study aimed to describe the behavioral problems observed in the classroom, according to teachers' reports. A questionnaire created for this study was answered by 55 teachers, (female = 70,9% and men = 29,1%), among five schools of Chillán, Chile. Teachers indicated that among the behavioral problems, non-compliance behavior is observed with frequency (43,6%). This study is a starting point for future investigation on this topic, that addresses regional and national phenomena.

This article has the dual purpose of explaining the nature of the energy crisis in Peru and of contributing towards placing the actual debate on this matter in perspective. To that effect, the author proposes the use of three basic principies in the fleld of energy economics which, according to his judgment, are essential both for the study of the problem as well as for establishing rational criterio for the decision making process. In the light of such principies, the problem-crisis of oil reserves is examined and the succesive stages needed to reach a solution are analyzed. So, answers are sought for questions such as: should domestic production be geared to domestic energy demand or to the needs to generate foreign exchange?, what are the ways and conditions that should norm the process of oil extraction, i.e., how should the revenues generated by the production of oil be distributed ...

This research is framed within the area of translation and interpreting studies and more specifically within the field of translation didactics. The general research objective of this study is to observe and analyze the repercussions of Translation undergraduate courses at five different universities in Spain. With empirical methods combining quantitative and qualitative analysis relying on a macro-study of more than 1,000 subjects and a longitudinal study of 37 students, the research focuses specifically on the development of the strategic competence (SC) and, particularly, the student’s capacity to identify and describe translation problems. Furthermore, in the case of the longitudinal study, four hypotheses were tested against the students’ answers. In this paper, we present the results of hypothesis number 4: whether the richness of the metalanguage used by the TI students evolve...

Air pollution is addressed in Peru with regulations focused only on its physical dimension, even though it also presents a social dimension and a political dimension. The knowledge contributed by Peruvian universities can be leveraged to design regulations that address this problem with a multidimensional approach; however, its current status is unknown. This work goes beyond a literature review as it aims to answer the research question: What knowledge have Peruvian universities contributed on the physical, social, and political dimensions of air pollution at the national level during the period 2001- 2020? For this purpose, the concepts of the physical, social, and political dimensions of air pollution were used as the theoretical framework, and the state-of-the-art technique as the methodology. Knowledge on air pollution from 84 academic articles from academic journals of 23 Peruvian ...

The Peruvian standard for the execution of contract works, requires that within the first month of execution, the contractor and supervisor hand in a technical file review report. However, it does not establish the procedures and/or actions that the entity, supervisor, or contractor carry out in the face of consultations, possible additions, or alerted risks, i.e., variations. In a similar situation, during the execution of the Calana potable water Treatment Plant in the city of Tacna, some additions were approved after 70 and 103 days of having identified their requirement in the technical file review reports, generating 107 days of extension of the deadline. Therefore, when reviewing possible improvements, it is proposed to modify Article 175, Requirements for the subscription of the contract work, to obtain timely communication between the contractor, supervisor, entity, and draftsman...

The article proposes one model for the delivery problem. We decided to make a model of mathematic programming that can answer questions on how to realize the delivery of articles from one point named warehouse, to destiny places; looking to minimizing costs when translating or transporting goods or articles. The results obtained for the model, to fulfill an average demand of 80 boxes to deliver, require of 5 small lorries for an optimal delivery; it means only 5 routes or tours are needed to fulfill all delivery to customers.

In the Anthropocene and within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, artificial intelligence can be seen as an element that exacerbates the problems related to environmental degradation. Thus, renowned researchers such as Aimee van Wynsberghe and Mark Coeckelbergh have proposed the concept of Sustainable Artificial Intelligence (SAI). However, it is important to connect this conceptual approach with an innovation model that enables its realization for the sake of sustainability. The Quintuple Helix Framework represents an opportunity for boosting SAI through a form of innovation committed to social participation and environmental protection.
