Significant differences between preeclampsia manifestations before (early-onset) and after 34weeks (late-onset) raise the possibility that these are two different diseases. This hypothesisis strengthened based on genetic, epidemiological and placental differences. However, recentstudies show the possibility of temporal continuity between both clinical phenotypes. In thiscontext antiangiogenic phenomena and their relation with the fetus may be crucial in clarifyingthis unanswered question.Keywords: Early-onset preeclampsia, late-onset preeclampsia, antiangiogenic imbalance

OBJETIVE: To analyze the results of vaginal hysterectomies performed without uterine prolapse. DESIGN: Descriptive study. LUGAR: Hospital Center "Pereira Rossell" of Montevideo, Uruguay. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed the medical histories of vaginal hysterectomies performed since 1997. operative time, length of stay, complications were examined and compared to the reference series. RESULTS: 200 vaginal hysterectomies was performed without major complications. CONCLUSIONS: In those patients requiring hysterectomy for benign cervical cancer and pathology to the stage IA1, the route of choice is vaginal.

Objective: To evaluate the role of total laparoscopic hysterectomy in the treatment of uterine pathology. Design: Descriptive and retrospective study. Material and Methods: Seventy two patients with indication of abdominal hysterectomy underwent total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) employing the "RUMY manipulator and Koh Colpotomiser System" at the Gynecology Service of Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital during 1998-2000. Laparoscopy was the method for total hysterectomy and electrosurgical energy was the only coagulation method. The surgical technique, postoperative evolution and complications were evaluated. Objectives: To present an abdominal radical trachelectomy surgical technique with complete preservation of the uterine arteries. Design: Clinical and surgical study. Setting: Hospital Oncologico de Buenos Aires Marie Curie, Argentina. Participants: Women with uterine cervical cancer stages Ia2 – Ib1. Endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS) is a rare tumor comprising less than 1% of gynecological malignancies. We report the case of a 24 year old woman with abnormal uterine bleeding who underwent hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy for pelvic tumor. At microscopy the neoplasm was composed of malignant proliferation of endometrial stromal cells. Immunohistochemical studies were positive for vimentin and desmin. Clinical and pathologic findings are presented, as well as a review of the new WHO classification and treatment options.

Tuboperitoneal factor affects about 25% of the sterile population. During the past 35 years its treatment has been surgical, either by laparoscopy or laparotomy, with acceptable results in term of pregnancies. Surgical success is closely bound to good diagnosis. The use of histerosalpingography and laparoscopy is currently present but none of them show the tube physiomorphology, just its permeability or not. Salpingoscopy is a new element in evaluating tubal epithelium and its ability to act normally. Finally we must emphasize the fact that patients with severe tuboperitoneal factors who failed a surgical attempt or is over 38 years old would not have to waste valuable time and should be directed to a in vitro fertilization program as soon as possible.

We conducted a study with 80 patients ginecópatas, mortadores of infection problems. Of these, 60 were treated with a new drug trimethoprim + sulfamethoxazole association and comparatively 10 patients with ampicillin and tetracycline 10 others. In the 60 patients studied with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP / SMX) association is summarized as follows: The finding was between 4 and 58 years old. The group of women aged 20-40 years accounted for 54% of gynecological infections. 44.4% of infections were caused by Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus coagulase corresponding to 24% positive infections. OBJETIVE: To determine the quality of life of climacteric patients. DESIGN: Prospective descriptive study, survey type. PLACE: Menopause Unit of the Specialized Maternal Perinatal Institute of Lima, in 2002. MATERIAL AND METHODS: One hundred and ten new climacteric patients were surveyed by Hiditch test. RESULTS: 52% were comprised between 45 and 54 years old; 49% are natural posmenoausea. The most common symptoms were anxiety or nervousness in 89% (98 cases), musculoskeletal pain 90% (98), depression in 83% (92) and headache in 79% (87). When applying logistic regression it was observed that the loss of quality of life in these women are mainly in the physical psychosocial areas (4.64 ± 1.52) and (4.14 ± 1.32) and does not depend on age or sociodemographic variables, but essentially to be in menopause. This article studies the effectiveness of websites of Chilean deputies as a communication tool. Researchers conduct a content analysis of the entire website of parliamentarians at two moments: 2015 and 2018. A first fact is that only half of the deputies have a website, rejecting its potential as a communication tool for citizens. In addition, none of the 129 websites analyzed, 66 in 2015 and 63 in 2018, is effective in terms of digital communication, underutilizing the informative and dialogical potential of this tool. The article also provides information about the use of Facebook and Twitter by parliamentarians. In the light of the results, the websites of Chilean deputies are used in the old logic of mass communication that includes a sender and a passive public, contradicting the digital democratization that characterizes the communication of the 21st century.

In this symposium we discuss some current issues in oncological gynecology, such as vaccines against the human papillomavirus (HPV), minimally invasive surgery in gynecological cancer and the preoperative assessment of the adnexal mass. In addition, the most important genetic syndromes are reviewed.
