Purpose: Though an accumulating body of study has analysed monetary policy transmission in India, there are few studies examining the differential impact of monetary policy action. Against this backdrop, this study aims to analyse the differential impact of monetary policy on aggregate demand, aggregate supply and their components along with the general price level in India. Design/methodology/approach: The study develops a structural macroeconometric model, which is primarily aggregate and eclectic in nature. The generalized method of movements is used for estimation of behavioural equations, while a Gauss–Seidel algorithm is used for model simulation purposes. Findings: The paper presents the results of two policy simulations from the estimated model that highlight the differential impact of monetary policy. The first one, hike in the policy rate by 5% and second is a reduction in ba...

This paper shows a novelty way to simulate the nonlinear behaviour of confined masonry walls subjected to in-plane lateral loading by using a 3D macro-modelling approach. For this purpose, the finite elements method implemented in ABAQUS software was used. All the 3D solid finite elements were modelled as a single part, which allowed avoiding modelling the contact interfaces between concrete and masonry elements. The nonlinear behaviour of the concrete and masonry were governed by two main types of failures: crushing and cracking, which were properly represented by the Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model. Steel rebars were modelled as elastic–plastic with hardening and were assumed to have a perfect adhesion with the surrounding concrete by means of the embedded constraint. Prior to the modelling process, experiments were carried out whose results were used as patterns to validate t...

Adobe is one of the oldest construction materials that is still used in many seismic countries, and different construction techniques are found around the world. The adobe material is characterized as a brittle material; it has acceptable compression strength but it has poor performance under tensile and shear loading conditions. Numerical modelling is an alternative approach for studying the nonlinear behaviour of masonry structures such as adobe. The lack of a comprehensive experimental database on the adobe material properties motivated the study developed here. A set of a reference material parameters for the adobe were obtained from a calibration of numerical models based on a quasi-static cyclic in-plane test on full-scale adobe wall representative of the typical Peruvian adobe constructions. The numerical modelling, within the micro and macro modelling approach, lead to a good pre...

Studies present insufficient information on working models within the purchasing area using the BPM tool for agro-industrial companies, especially in Latin America, which aim to improve performance and optimize the processes of an organization. For this reason, the need for this research arises. This scientific article presents a model to improve supply management. The BPM methodology was proposed to standardize internal processes and the Kraljic matrix, a tool used in purchasing management to classify materials and optimize purchase planning. The level of compliance within the purchasing area did not satisfy the established policies, reaching only 55.96% and generating a gap in the savings goal of approximately S/.500,000. This causes an imbalance at the administrative and operational level due to a lack of general standardization of the processes. This triggered problems at the macro l...

The research applied the Lean Six Sigma methodology, DMAIC cycle, to optimize mechanized support on the 745 Bypass in the face of geomechanical instability, reported as a critical problem by the customer. The objective was to design and validate a comprehensive strategy to reduce variability and increase efficiency in structural stability, using indicators such as monthly frequency of rockfalls, percentage of surface area affected by unstable wedges, and overall safety factors (OSF). Initial assessments showed a mean convergence depth of 2.76 cm, although Ppk = 0.37 and Cpk = 0.34 indicated an inability to maintain specifications (base value >1.33). Massif conditions in Zone 4 were characterized by structural systems (N23°E/74°NW) and an RMR range of 48–64, corresponding to domains of fair to acceptable quality. Analyses indicated induced stresses of 9 to 18 MPa in section S1 and...

Urban public transport congestion reduces user quality of life and system efficiency, posing a major challenge for growing cities. This study designs an express route in a Bus Rapid Service (BRS) system using TransCAD macro-simulation. A model based on origin-destination (OD) data reflects current conditions. The proposal introduces a mid-route turn to optimize West-East trips, where demand is higher, and distance is shorter. Simulation results show a 13.98% reduction in West-East travel time and a 20.19% reduction in East-West travel time. Express routes supported by advanced tools can improve operational efficiency and user experience in public transport.

This paper presents a macro-fiscal model for examining the public sector primary surplus and the dynamics and sustainability of public debt in closed and open economies. The model simulates how changes in the primary surplus affect public debt, highlighting key differences between these economic contexts. Notably, open economies can finance fiscal deficits with foreign currency-denominated debt, introducing additional sources of instability in public debt dynamics. The analysis demonstrates how a permanent reduction in the primary surplus undermines public debt sustainability, with outcomes shaped by economic conditions and the features of open and closed economies. Furthermore, it confirms that delays in implementing fiscal adjustments following a destabilizing shock result in increasingly severe corrective measures over time.
