The article examines the nature of the International Development Cooperation that China offers to Peru, with the aim of determining whether it constitutes an expression of international solidarity or an instrument of strategic projection. Based on an analysis of the theoretical framework of international cooperation and the guiding principles of Chinese cooperation, the characteristics of this relationship are studied. The analysis shows that China seeks to differentiate itself from traditional cooperators by respecting the sovereignty of the recipient country, which has favored its acceptance. However, it also seeks to expand its sphere of influence through a broader conception of cooperation linked to its economic interests. It is concluded that Peru must adopt a strategy that clearly separates cooperation from investment and trade, in order to maximize benefits, reduce the risks of de...

International trade fairs are an international marketing instrument usually used by the exporting companies. Despite the benefits of international trade fairs, Peruvian exporting companies have a limited participation as exhibitors in them. There is no evidence to show how Peruvian exhibitors assessed their participation in international trade fairs. The main objective of the study is to analyze through which dimensions exhibiting companies evaluate their exhibition performance at international trade through sales results. Therefore, we decided to work with a model of trade fair performance of exhibiting companies including a dimension based on sales results. The study is quantitative and the research is correlational. The hypothetical deductive method was used and survey was determined as data collection instrument. As a result it appears that within the dimension of sales there is a st...

International remittances are a relevant source of income in developing countries, with important implications for the labour market of recipient countries. Peruvian international migration is a particular case of Latin America, since it tends to be concentrated in middle-and high-income households and in highly educated people, who display particular preferences in relation to the labour market. Using data from 2004 to 2019, we analysed the impact of remittances on employment, hours worked, and wages of Peruvian workers. Our results show that remittances reduce labour participation by 9.8 percentage points (pp). On average, the effect is greater among dependent workers than self-employed workers (-7.5 pp versus -3 pp). Similarly, we observed an increase in hourly income in both types of work (10.1% and 65%, respectively). In this sense, the Peruvian case offers a new perspective on the ...

ABSTRACT Peru is in the central, western part of South America. It is the third largest country in South America and number 20 in the world. It is the country with the fourth highest population in South America. In 2010, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Peru was 154 billion USD, and its rate of growth was 8.8% (higher than the average for the region for the last 5 years). 56.8% of employed population was in the tertiary sector, 26.7% in the primary and mining sector and only 16.5% worked in manufacturing and construction. These figures are quite stable for the last years with a slight decrease in the primary sector (in 2006, it employed 32.9% of total employees), which went to the secondary sector (it was 14.2% in 2006) and the service sector (52.9% that year). In the period considered, employment has increased significantly in Peru due to economic growth. However, it is important to ...

As you know, the financial crisis broke out in September 2008 with the bankruptcy of the largest investment bank in the United States, Lehman Brothers. Previously, the U.S. government had already come to the rescue of two giant companies dedicated to the mortgage business: Fannie Mac and Freddie Mac, holders of 50% of the U.S. mortgage pie; an operation that involved pawning a lot of U.S. taxpayers' money, and which has been paid for with the issuance of U.S. Federal Reserve bills.

The international trade in wildlife has a long history resulting in the near disappearance of some populations. This activity is an important economic alternative, both for the conservation of the species and for their sustainable use by the rural communities. A diagnosis of exports was carried out between 2001 and 2017, evaluating the value chain, commercialized species, export modalities, supply and demand, destinations, national and international threat categories of the main species and perception of those involved in wildlife. Information on international trade was obtained through the customs operation system, the perception through interviews and the current status of the species through the national and international levels of threat. In the value chain weaknesses were identified to be improved, such as avoiding data loss, guaranteeing the traceability of the resource and improvi...

Certification as bird bander implies to validate the level of knowledge and experience of people with regard to a consolidated standard of work in the exercise of capture, banding, handling, and release of birds, in order to promote the safety of the bird, the security of the bander and the quality of the data collected. Latin America has not been unaffected by situations of armed conflict or other situations of violence. These situations require analysis from both theoretical and practical approaches. A key component of these analysis has been - and continues to be - the need to guarantee the compatibility of national legal systems with International Criminal Law, with the aim of fighting against impunity and to prevent the commission of international crimes. This translates into the need to carry out a comprehensive implementation of obligations arising from relevant treaties in this area ratified by States. This factor could guarantee that countries in the region have adequate legal tools to make a correct legal assessment of armed conflicts or situations of violence which may amount to international crimes and crimes related to the use of force by State agents; in order to apply the relevant legal fr...
