In this paper a hybrid scheme given by diffusion equation in conjunction to classical electrodynamics to examine physics-based mechanisms behind the behavior of beta cells, is presented. Particular attention is paid on the scenario by which beta-cell is not able to segregate insulin granules. Thus, a mechanism that would explain anomalies as seen in the lost of functions to segregate granules of insulin, is proposed. In this manner, the main argument of this paper states that the processes previous to the segregation of insulin given by (i) entrance of insulin, (ii) exit of Potassium K+, (iii) entrance of Calcium 2+, and (iv) segregation of insulin belong in only one universal formulation. A pseudo code by which the diabetes disease might be seen as a bug of the biological software of beta cell is proposed. Therefore a scheme capable to fix that bug would constitute a path to alleviate t...

The present work exposes the foundational period of heritage management in Argentina (1937-1947) inquiring into the relations, crosses, displacements and conflict of interest between history and architectural restoration. At local level, heritage awareness and the creation of a specific institution to safeguard the national values was conceived and represented by historians. Nevertheless, the National Commission of Museums, Monuments and Historical Sites soon required the incorporation of an architect to start the restoration works. Since then, approaches, perspectives and roles from different disciplines get crossed. Two theoretical and methodological strategies were used for the development of this work: professional profiles of the Commission; different sources of information exposing the relationship between history and restoration were analyzed.

Computed tomography (CT) is one of the major technological advances used in medicine to diagnose diseases, but it is also a technique used in other areas, such as eroespacial chemistry, radio astronomy, etc.. The goal of CT is to reconstruct the inside of an object without the need to open it, this process is known a nondestructive testing. To achieve this purpose, the TC uses suffering atenución X-rays to go through said object with said internal information of the object is reconstructed, this is an inverse problem. We got out of the theory and we focus on the practice showing concretely how the inside of an object using an algebraic method known as algebraic reconstruction for a specific event is reconstructed.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of knowledge management through informal learning on the relationship between employability and job performance of recent graduates in their first jobs. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey of 392 graduates of business school management programs at 4 universities in Lima, Peru was conducted to study the relationship between employability and job performance as moderated by informal learning inside and outside the work environment. It is confirmed that informal learning positively moderates the relationship between employability and job performance of recent graduates. However, informal learning impacts the employability dimensions differently. The results challenge traditional methods of learning and training inside and outside the work environment and provide new insights for knowledge management, talent management and their inductio...

Pollutants inside at houses are smoking, gas combustion, use of solvents, household cleaning chemicals, emissions from building materials, and contamination of the exterior aggravates the inside of the house. In this article, we conducted a study to select the best air purifier equipment for an urban house. The selection was carried out by applying the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) methodology. In this study, three alternatives were proposed for the evaluation of the air purifier equipment: Bap1700, Bap600 and Bap706; which were ranked according to the criteria: scope, characteristics, and model. To carry out the selection using AHP, a panel of four experts were selected for this study. In this paper, we determined that the best air purifier equipment was the A1 alternative: Air Purifier Bap1700.

The presence of outliers, noise, corrupt pieces of data and great quantity of samples in a multispectral image, makes the segmentation analysis work tedious. The fuzzy clustering approach, specially, is susceptible to inhomogeneity of characteristics. Furthermore, many algorithms such us FCM, PFCM, FCC, FWCM and modification aim to solve these problems by integrating spacial information. This process is carried through the analysis of the sample's neighborhood. This paper proposes the integration of the sample presence probability into a ”term” like form inside the existent model NFCC. This algorithm presents the basic steps for fuzzy clustering. With a middle variant that integrates the measure between each sample to all the centroids, this replaces the existent term by a new term. This new term integrates the spatial relationship between each sample of the multispectral image into ...

Collaborative writing is a complex task that involves diverse regulatory processes. In this case study we address the resolution of Problem-Based Learning through a report written collaboratively. Ten students from the Human Biology degree and their tutor took part. We collected data inside the classroom (the writing assignment, the assessment rubric, and audio recordings of 3 tutorials) and data outside the classroom (screen recordings of the students’ activity on their computers, the team’s WhatsApp group conversation, the final text of the written work, a focus group recording and the evaluative comments of the marking teachers). The results indicate that the processes of self-regulation and socially shared regulation are the most developed. Participants demonstrate control and autonomy in carrying out individual and group activities. On the other hand, co-regulation is less frequ...

We introduce a novel methodology for locally updating an existing 3D solid model of a complex monumental structure with the geometric information provided by a 3D mesh (point cloud) extracted from the digital survey of a specific sector of a monument. Solid models are fundamental for engineering analysis and conservation of monumental structures of the cultural heritage. Finite elements analysis (FEA), the most versatile and commonly used tool for the numerical simulation of the static and dynamic response of large structures, requires 3D solids which accurately represent the outside as well as the inside geometry and topology of the domain to be analyzed. However, the structural changes introduced during the lifetime of the monument and the damage caused by anthropogenic and natural factors contribute to producing complex geometrical configurations that may not be generated with the des...

Radioisotope techniques are highly useful tools to investigate variety of problems in oil & gas refining and petrochemical industry. Major techniques and applications are in routine service to industry of many countries. Gamma-ray scanning, often referred to as “column scanning”, is a convenient, cost effective, fast, efficient and non-intrusive technique to examine inner details of a process column or a reaction vessel, while it is in operation. Column scanning allows an engineer in petroleum refineries, gas processing installations and chemical plants, to study tray or packing hydraulics inside a distillation column at any set of on-line condition. It provides essential data to optimize the performance of columns, extend column run times, trackthe performance-deteriorating effects of fouling and solids deposition, and identify maintenance requirements well in advance of schedul...
