This article is an analysis of Francisco Laso's painting Igualdad ante la Ley or Las tres razas. Through an intimate and opposite scene to reality, Laso shows us an ideal of society and his desires to achieve equality between different socio-ethnic groups. The important one of the painting is that it highlights the socio-ethnic differences of Peru in the mid-nineteenth century. Likewise, the political and economic nature of the context in which the painting was carried out when dealing with the issue of slavery, child labor and indigenous tribute. In addition, as a cultural historical document shows us the dress of the time that determines the role of people in the Lima society of the XIX century.

The present work proposes a brief introduction to the mathematical doctrine of Francisco Suarez according to his Disputationes Metaphysicae I. The context of his researching deals with the notion of obiectum aedecuatum, a theory of abstraction and the order of sciences in general terms. Therefore, in order to better understanding the mathematical sciences, it´s necessary to observe its relationship with metaphysics and define the ground and the limits of mathematical philosophy.

En una breve introducción se indica el tema de estudio y a su vez se señala el enfoque antropológico ético del mismo. Cuando se atraviesan momentos críticos de la historia, se evidencia lo mejor y también lo peor que se encuentra en el hombre. El aporte de Francisco Javier Mariátegui Tellería (Lima, 17931884) a la Independencia del Perú y a sentar las bases de la República fue muy valioso. De su vida y obra se han ocupado, entre otros, Jorge Guillermo Leguía, Clements Markham, Manuel de Mendiburu, Raúl Porras Barrenechea, Jorge Basadre. Su hermano fue Ignacio Mariátegui (Lima, 1798-1868), con una meritoria trayectoria como marino, que luego fue el primer Contralmirante de la Marina de Guerra del Perú y hay una fragata misileraque lleva su nombre (B.A.P. Mariátegui). El primer Mariátegui que vino al Perú, fue el padre de ambos, el vasco José Ignacio Mariátegui y Liernia (nació en 1740, en Guipúzcua, España y murió en Lima, en 1814).

In this article, the main narrative modalities of the traditionalists from Arequipa, Mariano Ambrosio Cateriano and Francisco Ibáñez, are presented. The influence of Ricardo Palma in the works of both authors is followed and the differences between each of them are pointed out. In addition, it reveals facts within the literary field that determined the early displacement of the genre of tradition towards the production of modern tales. Estudia la idea de nación a través de la pintura de Francisco Laso de los Ríos (1823-1869). Para ello, se seleccionaron seis lienzos donde el pintor representa motivos acordes a su ideal de nación. Se utilizaron, además, textos redactados por el mismo Laso, siendo los más importantes de ellos, el folleto titulado Aguinaldo para las Señorasdel Perú (1854), y los ensayos en La Revista de Lima (1859- 1863). Es a travésde dichos escritos Laso que se sustenta una idea de nación, la fue plasmada a si mismo en sus propios lienzos. The link between literature and law has hardly been explored in Uruguay, let alone its connection with surrealism. Although this relationship appears initially distant, there are works that allow an analysis from this perspective. This paper studies the short story ‘María del Carmen’ by Francisco Espínola and aims to broaden the space for reflection on the potential of the relationship between law and literature and, in particular, with surrealism as an avant-garde aesthetic expression. Based on this objective, the following legal themes will be studied: gender, justice by one’s own hand, consent in marriage and its surrealist resolutions, in short, the absence of law and the conflict between principles. In other words, the question will be answered: is it possible to call for reflection on legal phenomena from a surrealist literary point of view?

El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación permite dar a conocer las siguientes opiniones políticas de Francisco de Miranda a la luz del material recabado, lo que permite concluir que: Su pensamiento político estuvo moldeado e influenciado por: a) el concepto de libertad racional, lo cual es consistente con su adhesión a la revolución sudamericana; b) la separación de poderes, que sirvió de modelo para las constituciones de las repúblicas recién emancipadas, y c) cambio sin convulsiones.
