Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a public health problem in Peru. The Peruvian health system spends nearly 4% of its total budget just for paying only hemodialysis therapy. Objective: To determine a comparison of direct costs between kidney replacement therapy options. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive study for cost analysis. Costs for patients when using different modalities of kidney replacement therapy were assessed: renal transplant, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis in Junin Health Network from Peruvian Social Security (EsSalud). Data from 213 patients was analyzed. Mean costs were calculated. Data was taken from the Acquisition and Cost Unit of the Junin Health Network in EsSalud from 2016 to 2021. Background: Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM2) constitutes a global public health problem with high morbidity and mortality rate. Studies reported cardiovascular disease as the main direct cause of death in diabetics, while others attributed it to respiratory diseases. However, in our setting, it is still a question. The objective of our study was to determine the main direct causes of death in diabetic patients of Peru. Material and Methods: Observational, descriptive study. We collected the data from the registry of the “Sistema Informático Nacional de Defunciones” (SINADEF) of Peru from 2017 to 2020. To point out which group of epileptic patients generate more direct costs. The present work shows the synergistic application of reflectance spectroscopy and core-shell molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for rapid quantification of tartrazine in soft drinks. Studies evaluated the performance of the MIPs synthesized in the presence of silica nanoparticles unfunctionalized and functionalized with [3-(methacryloyloxy)propyl]trimethoxysilane. Although the use of functionalized silica nanoparticles promoted the highest adsorption capability of tartrazine, the material was found to be less selective when it was applied in real samples. The coastal desert of Peru and Chile is home to Prosopis (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae) tree species that are exceptionally well-adapted to the hyperarid conditions and keystone in dry-forest ecosystems. From 2001 to 2018, Prosopis in Peru have suffered widespread defoliation and die-back, with consequent deforestation and collapse in pod production. This paper reports a new insect plague species of Prosopis forest in Peru: Enallodiplosis discordis Gagné 1994 (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) as a fiercely defoliating agent contributing to widespread Prosopis mortality.
