This article aims to demonstrate that, in Mexico, the phenomenon of violence has surpassed the highest authorities and institutions in charge of the system of justice for the benefit of society, a situation that has allowed also, that there is an inability on the part of the latter, in order to guarantee the security and the protection of the human rights of the citizenry to enforce the objectives of the Democratic State and of Law. In Mexico, the increase in violence, sadly, has not diminished but, on the contrary, has increased year after year, so that its impact is severely negative in terms of the development of Mexican society. That said, the phenomenon of systemic violence in the country is not only due to widely organized criminal groups, but is largely generated by the exercise of power to develop normative mechanisms for the protection of human rights, which do not protect them ...

This study evaluated the online implementation of a positive psychological intervention for retirees during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. A mixed longitudinal design with pre-post-intervention and implementation process evaluation was used. Thirty convenience retirees aged between 52-87 years participated (M=65.13; SD=9.22). The instruments were: a sociodemographic questionnaire, visual analog scale, program and sessions’ evaluation form, and moderator’s field diary. Participants’ mood improved after the themes: values and self-care, optimism, empathy, meaning of life, and work. The best evaluated relaxation technique involved elements of Mindfulness and the most used contents were Gratitude and Empathy. There were difficulties in using technologies (access to the online room, connection instability, noise from the environment) and the non-private domestic context for the sessio...

This essay is a reflection on the role of communication technologies in theater during the post-pandemic period, and on the commitments that must be re-assumed as artists, teachers and students of performing arts in the Peruvian context. Taking the premise that theater requires the physical presence of actors and spectators to exist and, in turn, that the intervention of digital media is an unstoppable constant in the social evolution, we conclude on the need to involve technologies and the Internet as part of the process of poetic-scenic construction, as well as the importance of redoubling the effort to generate spaces for the physical encounter between artists and spectators.

What is it like to live without questioning the meaning of existence? This document proposes how something as common and chaotic as existential crises can find transformation and change through drama therapy. This therapeutic tool facilitates emotional expression through drama (acting, play, dramaturgy, masks, among other elements of theatrical art) and generates powerful introspection processes in participants through their self-awareness, through provocative questions posed by the drama therapist. The social symptoms of existential emptiness end up generating emotional difficulties that can even lead to the loss of life for those who experience them. For this reason, it is decided to work with young people, as they are the population most affected by this problem. In other words, drama therapy aims to propose a path that approaches the construction of the purpose for which young people...

The research addresses the link between emotional dysregulation, nomophobia, and Instagram addiction in Chilean university students. A quantitative study of correlational scope was conducted with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 218 university students from south-central Chile, who answered the Difficulties in Emotional Regulation Scale (DERS-E), the Nomophobia questionnaire NMP-Q, the Berger Instagram Addiction Scale (BIAS) and reported some parameters of their Instagram account activity. The results account for multiple correlations between nomophobia and Instagram addiction with all dimensions of emotional dysregulation. The number of followers and posts on the Instagram platform did not correlate with the dimensions of emotional dysregulation, although they did show correlations with nomophobia and Instagram addiction. The number of followers, on the...

Access to clean drinking water is crucial worldwide. Throughout history, various methods of distribution have been developed to ensure that people have access to good quality water. Nowadays, there are various risks associated with water contamination, including those caused intentionally and unintentionally. Responding to such incidents typically involves manual decisionmaking processes, emphasizing the need for automated strategies. This thesis introduces a novel approach employing Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) to optimize isolation strategies and flushing methods within water distribution systems (WDSs). By integrating mass conservation and energy conversion equations, coupled with Hazen-Williams equation for pressure drop calculations, the proposed model aims to minimize contamination risks arising from various sources, including natural disasters and cyber-attacks. The...

This research analyses the opinion articles about the COVID-19 published in the main newspapers of Italy, Spain and Germany. To this purpose, a qualitative inductive-deductive content analysis methodology has been used along two complementary phases. The first included the detailed analysis of the sample, and the second involved a method of comparative textual analysis using the Sketch Engine software. The results show the existence of some common issues about the virus, although with different approaches depending on the country: a certain vision marked by national politics in the Spanish case, an interpretative view in the case of Germany and a more social-humanistic perspective in the Italian dailies. A discourse contrary to generating panic is common in the three countries studied, but with a clear underestimation of the virus’ potential consequences in the first couple of months a...
