Undifferentiated carcinoma with undifferentiated osteoclast-like cells (UC-OGC) in the head of the pancreas is extremely rare. The clinicalpathological, imaging and topographic appearance characteristics are not wellclassified. This case report describes a patient with UC-OGC of the Pancreas Head. Our patient, an adult over 75 years of age, had a considerable illness time, without relevant symptoms until the advanced stages of the tumor, debuting with shallow gastric discomfort, then weight loss. In the diagnostic tests they found the presence of a tumor that compromised the stomach, duodenum and pancreas. The definitive diagnosis was given by the pathological study. There are not enough clinical data available for a treatment that guarantees a higher survival rate in patients, however, pancreatoduodenectomy is currently the alternative that offers the best results, on the other hand, th...

The likely antineoplastic effect of extract of Annona cherimola Mill "chirimoya", is controversial. Therefore, such as neoplasia involves an alteration of the cell cycle (CC) of the affected tissue; an approach to evaluate the antineoplastic effect of extract would be exposing it to a cell population with the altered CC. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of alcoholic extract from the pulp of the fruit of A. cherimola Mill on the CC of the biosensor Vicia faba L. "bean" exposed to the food coloring tartrazine 0.1%, 0.3% and 0.5%. An experimental design was random, with six treatments. The cell population studied was of V. faba L. Dear Editor, After reading the 2023 publication by Manjarres A. et al. in your esteemed journal on cancer and breast implants, I would like to contribute additional data regarding breast implant-associated anaplastic large-cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) in Latin America. This work highlights the lack of knowledge and evidence in Latin American countries, a crucial aspect given the classification of BIA-ALCL as a new pathological entity by the World Health Organization in 2016 (1).

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a rare disease that complicates pre-transfusion tests due to the presence of autoantibodies interfering with conventional serological techniques. This increases the risk of alloimmunization and hinders the selection of compatible units, particularly in multi-transfused patients. This article reviews the use of molecular techniques, such as red blood cell genotyping, to improve transfusion safety in AIHA patients. Data sources such as PubMed, Cochrane, Medline, and Scielo were reviewed to identify relevant studies published between 2013 and 2024. Molecular techniques provide faster and more precise typing, overcoming serological interferences, but face challenges like high costs and limited infrastructure in countries like Peru. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are transmembrane proteins that are key regulators of innate and adaptive immune responses, particularly TLR4, and they have been identified as potential drug targets for the treatment of disease. Several low-molecular-weight compounds are being considered as new drug targets for various applications, including as immune modulators. Los enterovirus (EV) son la causa más común de infecciones de las vías respiratorias en humanos y se clasifican en siete especies (EV A-D y rhinovirus [RHV] A-C) con más de 200 serotipos diferentes. A thrombin-like enzyme, pictobin, was purified from Bothrops pictus snake venom. It is a 41-kDa monomeric glycoprotein as showed by mass spectrometry and contains approx. 45% carbohydrate by mass which could be removed with N-glycosidase. Pictobin coagulates plasma and fibrinogen, releasing fibrinopeptide A and induces the formation of a friableiporous fibrin network as visualized by SEM. The enzyme promoted platelet aggregation in human PRP and defibrination in mouse model and showed catalytic activity on chromogenic substrates S-2266, S-2366, S-2160 and S-2238. Pictobin interacts with the plasma inhibitor alpha 2-macroglobulin, which blocks its interaction with fibrinogen but not with the small substrate BApNA.
