Congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS) represents a group of heart diseases of genetic origin characterized by prolongation of the QT interval and an abnormal T wave on the electrocardiogram (ECG). They can have a dominant or recessive expression, the latter associated with sensorineural deafness. In both cases, its clinical presentation is associated with recurrent syncope and sudden death as a consequence of ventricular tachycardia, specifically Torsades de Pointes. Currently they are classified according to the specific genetic defect, being able to compromise around 16 genes and almost 2000 mutations. It should be suspected in individuals with related symptoms, electrocardiographic findings, and family history. Management is based on the reduction or elimination of symptoms, and concomitantly the prevention of sudden death (SD), in those children with congenital deafness, the management ...

The aim of this paper is to provide a model where altruism is determined endogenously. Altruism is an attitude that influences our actions toward other people. The model presented in this paper assumes that this influence also operates in the opposite direction via reciprocity: that is, people modify their altruism based on the actions of other agents. The paper uses a dynamic setup with two agents whose incomes are random. Depending on the incomes realized, transfers are made. These transfers convey information about the level of altruism of the donors. The agents use this information to adjust their own level of altruism. If the transfer received by an agent implies that the altruism level of the other agent is higher (lower) than that of the receiver, then the latter will increase (decrease) his level of altruism. This behavior induces a stochastic process for the levels of a...

The objective of the study is to compare long memory models to model exchange rate volatility. For this objective, the nominal sol / dollar exchange rate is used, covering the periods from July 19, 1999 to November 19, 2013. Essentially, it seeks to examine the prediction capacity between long memory models and hyperbolic behavior of the autocorrelations given by FIGARCH, HYGARCH and IGARCH and concluding that the FIGARCH model (1,0,637,1) using a t-student distribution has a better predictive capacity. The prediction of exchange rate volatility in the case of Peru is structurally important in the calculation of Value at Risk (VaR) and in risk management.

A comparative clinical evaluation of a comprehensive contraceptive program that began in 1964 in the areas of Health North and West of Santiago, was made using theoretical methods of life up to 36 months of use. Lippes Loop-D were inserted intermenstrually to 14,579 women; TCu-200 (only 12 months of use) to 350 women; Medroxyprogesterone Acetate was administered intramuscularly in dose of 150 mg. every 3 months 561 women and 300 mg. every six months to 588. The percentage of patients who discontinued treatment were influenced mainly by age, similarity and the desire for future pregnancies.

According to recent epidemiological reports, the pandemic severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is close to disappearing or, at least, we will have to live with it in an endemic form, due, in part, to the immunity generated by vaccines and, on the other hand, herd immunity. While this is happening, the world nervously awaits the appearance of new variants or zoonotic diseases, such as the recent monkeypox.

There is a consensus that the long-term consequences of ovarian deprivation can be prevented or reduced by trabecular bone therapy in one out of two cases resulting in lifetime risks of osteoporotic fractures. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prevented this loss of bone and decreases the incidence of fractures. a minimum of 5 years of treatment is recommended to achieve significant benefits. Epidemiologic evidence is accumulating in that postmenopausal estrogen therapy reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke by about 30% and 70%, even in the presence of established risk factors. Given the frequency of cardiovascular disease, it becomes probably one of the original advantages of using hormone replacement therapy in the next decade. Concerns about the long-term safety of HRT have focused on breast and endometrial cancer. The increased risk of endometrial cancer associated wi...

This work is new in our institution and our country. The IUD TCu 200 long filament, is used for the first time in this hospital and the patient being operated cesarean and needs a reasonable spacing of their next child is given, valuing the high reproductive risk, which means intergenesic period short and the possibility of uterine rupture increases in this period. Also, we consider that we have used the TCu 200 with long filament, which facilitates placement and location of this guide, leaving the cervix, due to its size (35 cm) and thus allows an easy location IUD by the cervix. This device was provided for study by the Mexican Academy of Medical Research in Demography.

Using 100+ years of data from 18 developed countries, we use a frequency domain technique to compute “long-run” correlations between inflation on the one hand and money growth and nominal interest rates on the other. The estimated long-run correlations are almost always positive. Their magnitude is relatively substantial for money growth, more modest for interest rates. We conclude that some traditional propositions about monetary neutrality are broadly consistent with the data.

In this article, a bibliographic review was carried out on the economic, touristic and environmental importance of long-lived species and the problems related to their vegetative propagation for their conservation. Many of these species grow in the inter-Andean valleys of Peru and have adapted over the time to adverse locations compared to those in which they usually grow. This has allowed them to develop unique phenotypes that store valuable genetic information and should be conserved. However, these present species problems of vegetative propagation, a problem explained throughout this article. We conclude that, despite the great importance of these species, their age factor is the main problem for their propagation, their conservation and diversity.

The essay advocates for a critical reassessment of the concepts of the right to the city, spatial justice, and the just city within the current urban planning paradigm. It emphasizes the interplay between theoretical frameworks and the foundations for social action grounded in spatiality, identifying key challenges in operationalizing the concept of a just city, such as the ambiguity of the term, the complexity of multiscalar governance, and the necessity to define common objectives. The essay stresses the importance of establishing a robust and sustainable science-policy interface to progress toward a just city. Furthermore, it highlights the need to transcend isolated planning actions to critically examine the underlying ideological and epistemological foundations, as well as the power structures that perpetuate inequalities and injustices —particularly in Latin America. This include...
