The acquisition of technological products confronts consumers with a phenomenon of deep information asymmetry. To adopt an efficient consumption decision, abundant and complex information is required. Consumer protection agencies often transfer the obligation to provide this information to the provider. However, due to the quantity, variety and complexity of the information required, this would only make the final price of the product more expensive, without being useful for all consumers. On the other hand, the information supplied by the provider is always suspicious, because what they are looking for is to sell the product. The internet provides consumers with enough tools to get all the necessary information, not only from providers, but also from third parties. Third parties have incentives to produce truthful, objective, and impartial information, much more useful to the consumer t...

The world of Communication is complex, due to the changing environment in which it is located and, essentially, due to technological disruption and its impact on today's digital society. In this eminently technological context, the ideal use and exploitation of its tools for the benefit of society is of concern. Generally, we accept free access to information in the Internet era, but we are worried about the use of algorithms that give direction to that information, and that is not as plural as it seems; or that it can even be false, without being detected. There are doubts about the quality of information, the privacy of our data and security. Companies, states and audiences are taking measures: Facebook will hide the number of likes of its accounts; Users are more cautious with their data; Google, Facebook and Twitter have been invited by the Federal Election Commission to explore ways...

In recent years, the music press has resorted to digital content to survive in the Internet era. It is the case of the Spanish magazine Rockdelux, which in 2020 closed its print edition to become an online platform with digital subscriptions. The objective of this research is to define the characteristics of the journalistic coverage developed by this media in its renewed website Rockdelux.com. For this purpose, this study analyzed more than 1,300 articles published during the transition from paper edition to digital edition; through an own methodology developed to compare editorial preferences on specific musical and journalistic genres. The conclusion was that the new Rockdelux with paywall has prioritized writing articles on trending music, such as reggaeton and hip hop —in addition to having increased the publication of short and immediate texts, such as reviews and news.

In this paper, the characteristics of films known as ‘found footage’ are discussed thorugh the ontology of cinematic camera, the distinction between fiction and non-fiction, between the shooting of a film and the film itself, and between an explicit author and an authorial agency of enunciation. In order to do this, the theories of Edward Branigan and Carl Plantinga will be essentil. Some films are analyzed with these axis, trying to understand the singular way each movie articulates the universal issue of the genre: the gap between the enunciated content and its enunciation. This irreductible gap, as psychoanalysis understands it, is necessary to understand the kind of truth we may find in ‘found footage’.

Through socio-semiotics theory, the film Ex-Machina (Garland, 2015) contains some hegemonic signs which could be linked to the human robotization phenomenon. Within that fictional strategy of the film, we find political and commercial ideologies. These ideologies can be materialized in two proposals: transhumanism and moral bio-enhancement. Specifically, part of the current research devoted to increasing human capacities is directed towards a new and deeper social division of a Darwinian nature: on the one hand, the attractive possibility of overcoming the “obsolete” human body, on the other, the distribution of drugs to produce docile and “ethical” humans.

Harun Farocki's work (1944-2014) has spanned for more than five decades, and has dealt primarily with the image, its meanings, its relationship with the mass ideology, and the possibilities and limits of its automation and mechanization in the digital age. Through the found footage technique, Farocki has established throughout his career different analytical strategies that have allowed him, through his film works, to propose an exhaustive review and criticism of the image and its implications. This essay seeks to propose reflections, based on Farocki's work, about the politics of the image, the relationship with the author / producer and its role in ideological, political and social spheres.

This paper analyzes the constitution of the advertising field from the birth of companies that organize productive models and professional identities around collective actions. It is based on the premise that the agency was the institution responsible for outlining the conditions for the existence of a segment, which had never existed before. This study concentrates on the examination of the first professional dispositions instituted by the agencies between the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in the United States and Europe and the subsequent reproduction of this pattern of business in Brazil. Thus, it is sought to highlight, with the historical path of these pioneer agencies, the emergence of professional functions and their forms of action combined for the social recognition of advertising field.

This article proposes a semiotic-structural analysis of Quentin Tarantino's film The Hateful Eight (2015). Our work incorporates elements from filmic narratology, in particular the idea of Emily Anderson's unreliable narrator, which highlights the possibility of an overall unreliable discourse. Our analysis shows that the film, both at the level of the narrative and the discourse itself, presents a series of manipulative simulations that allow its actants to organize the cognitive dimension of knowledge and belief to their advantage. This reveals a device that not only allows characters to deceive others with their speeches, but also the enunciator which operates at a higher level. Therefore, the film transforms underreporting and misreporting into its key tools.
