Para ello, se implementó una metodología bibliométrica con el fin de evaluar la productividad y el impacto de la investigación científica en este campo. Se llevó a cabo una búsqueda sistemática utilizando los términos "ciudadanía" y "digital", y se aplicaron filtros mediante operadores booleanos con el fin de seleccionar la literatura científica pertinente. Los criterios de inclusión aplicados fueron los estudios de acceso abierto, los años de publicación y la relevancia temática. Además, se aplicó un criterio de exclusión, resultando en un total de 25 estudios seleccionados para el análisis. El análisis bibliométrico se realizó con el uso del lenguaje de programación R y la herramienta Bibliometrix, permitiendo la medición de indicadores bibliométricos en varias categorías: fuentes de información, autores, instituciones afiliadas y estructura intelectual. Entre los hallazgos obtenidos, se destaca que España es el país con el mayor número de publicaciones sobre la temática, contabilizando un total de seis publicaciones en el año 2019. Este dato sugiere que el interés en la ciudadanía digital ha aumentado en años recientes. No obstante, es importante resaltar que este concepto no se consolidó hasta finales de la última década.
