Resultados: La frecuencia de depresión en los niños entre las edades de 7 a 12 años con obesidad fue del 81.5% RP (IC 95%) = 4,00 (2,16 - 7,39). La frecuencia de ansiedad en los niños con obesidad fue 98% RP (IC 95%) = 15,20 (2,18 - 106,24). Otras variables como la edad con un 11 %, el sexo femenino con un 33.8%, el aislamiento social con un 35.7%, la alimentación poco saludable con un 73.1% y la actividad física con un 72.7% son factores de riesgo para desarrollar obesidad teniendo una asociación significativa p<0.05. Conclusión: La depresión y la ansiedad son factores asociados a obesidad en los niños entre 7 a 12 años durante la pandemia COVID 19 en los estudiantes de la Institución Educativa Alfredo Tello Salavarria de Trujillo.

Material and methods: An analytical, observational, cross-sectional study was carried out. The study population consisted of 166 students between the ages of 7 and 12. According to selection criteria, we have children with depression and anxiety associated with obesity and without it, the Chi square statistical test was applied. Results: The frequency of depression in children between the ages of 7 and 12 years with obesity was 81.5% PR (95% CI) = 4.00 (2.16 - 7.39). The frequency of anxiety in children with obesity was 98% PR (95% CI) = 15.20 (2.18 - 106.24). Other variables such as age with 11%, female sex with 33.8%, social isolation with 35.7%, unhealthy eating with 73.1% and physical activity with 72.7% are risk factors for developing obesity while having a significant association p<0.05.
