Los resultados señalaron que la prevalencia de artritis reumatoide en los pacientes con ERGE fue 4.8% y sin ERGE fue 1.4% con significativas diferencias estadísticas (p=0.015). Además, el 14.4% de pacientes con enfermedad de reflujo gastroesofágico y en el 6.6% sin dicho reflujo, y la obesidad incrementó en dos veces el riesgo de enfermedad de reflujo gastroesofágico con un OR=2.37; IC95% 1.31-4.3, mientras que las covariables: sexo femenino, asma, lupus eritematoso sistémico y fribromialgia no representaron asociación con la enfermedad de reflujo gastroesofágico (p>0.05). Concluyeron que la artritis reumatoide y la obesidad representan ser factores de riesgo independientes para el desarrollo de enfermedad de reflujo gastroesofágico.

A case-design was applied. control for which 109 cases of GERD were taken into account with their corresponding 218 controls without said gastroesophageal reflux. The results indicated that the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in patients with GERD was 4.8% and without GERD it was 1.4% with statistically significant differences (p = 0.015). In addition, 14.4% of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and 6.6% without said reflux, i obesity increased the risk of gastroesophageal reflux disease by two times with an OR = 2.37; 95% CI 1.31-4.3, while the covariates: female sex, asthma, systemic lupus erythematosus and fibromyalgia did not represent an association with gastroesophageal reflux disease (p> 0.05).
